- Assist in the design and implementation of risk management policies, procedures, and frameworks.
- Assist month-end and year-end close activities, including preparation of journal entries, reconciliations, and financial statements.
- Collaborate with internal teams to review financial reports and identify potential risk areas.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of risk control measures and recommend improvements.
- Maintenance of the general ledger including performing full balance sheet account analysis and analytical review of P&L accounts.
- Maintain integrity of financial data. Interpret financial records and ensure no errors are occurring.
- Perform monthly cash reconciliations. Maintain and implement cash handling policies and procedures in accordance with best practices. Process cash receipts, recording of related revenue and receivable.
- Identify areas of possible internal control improvement, develop policies and procedures.
- Ensure accurate and timely recording of financial transactions, including accounts payable and cash.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including auditors and regulators.
- Ensure compliance with accounting principles, regulations, and organizational policies.
- Provide support to other areas of the finance department as needed.
- Support audits (internal and external) by providing necessary documentation and explanations.
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance required.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in accounting
- At least 3 years of non-profit accounting experience.
- Knowledge of healthcare accounting and regulatory requirements preferred.
- Excellent written, verbal, analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Ability to meet deadlines while maintaining a cooperative and collaborative spirit in a fast-paced work environment.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and effectively prioritize and execute tasks.
- Highly motivated, and team-oriented, with a strong sense of integrity.
- Demonstrate a proficient level of professional skill and/or knowledge in accounting and keep current with developments and trends. Knowledge and ability to use applicable information technology and systems to meet work needs.

We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical professional to serve as an Accountant / Risk Management Specialist. This role is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records while also identifying, assessing, and mitigating financial and operational risks to safeguard the organization’s assets and ensure compliance with regulatory standards. This position will be responsible for the day-to-day accounting functional areas and practices which include month-end closing, payroll processing; grant invoicing; financial report preparations; support in audits; and preparation of allocation worksheets.
