      Position Title: Accounting Coordinator Rate of Pay: $22.00/hour

      POSITION SUMMARY

      W ith mi nim al dire ction and supervision, this position coordinates the completion of assi gned int ernal ac counting func tions, assists with staff g uidance and tr aining, and provides coverage for accounti ng tasks in the absence of staff assi g n ed to parti cular fun ctions. Are as of responsibility may includ e, but are not limit ed to, accounts pa y a ble, accounts receivable, purchasin g, pa y roll, g r ant reportin g, pr epa r ation of financial r eports, and other a c counting functions as assigned by the Accounti ng Man ager.

      The position provides no direct supervision of H e alth Department st aff.

      S UPERVISION RECEIVED

      The position is essentially self -dir ecti ng with minim al supervision by the Accounting manager.

      ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

      1. P repares grant and pro g r am billings and reports as assigned for supervisory approval.
      2. Researc h es, orders, r e ce ives, distribut es, processes pa yment and tr acks requests for supplies, services, tra v el, equipm ent, and grant-re l ated contra cts for supervisory approval.
      3. P repares d eposits, inputs revenue / cash r eceipt information into Count y’s fixed asset reporting s ystem and prepares r e v enue reports for supervisory approval.
      4. Audits, prepa r es, and pro cesses timekeeping and pa y roll reports f or supervisory approval.
      5. P rovide support to assigned Division/prog r ams and participates in ad hoc events as r equired by the H ealth De p artment.
      6. Applies accounti ng principl es to compl etion of financial entries and repo rts for supervisory approval.

      JOB REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS

      Requires a B a chelor 's Degr ee in Business, Business Administration, or Accounting from an a c credit ed four (4) y e ar colle ge or university and two (2) y ears of responsible a ccounting e xperience, OR

      A n Associate D e g r ee in Business and/or Accounti ng with four (4) y e ars responsible acc ounti ng e xperience, AND

      • A working knowledge of the principles and practices of business and accounting.
      • The ability to exercise initiative and organize tasks for timely and accurate completion.
      • Must have working knowledge of accounti ng software (i.e., N ew World Financ i al S ystem, P eachtre e, Quic k Books, etc.) and various computer pr o g r ams, including Microsoft 365 suite of products, specifically Outlook, Excel and Word.

      ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL/COGNITIVE ABILITIES

      • The ability to sit, flex, stand, reach, and bend.
      • The physical strength to lift, carry, and transport materials and/or equipment equivalent to thirty (30) pounds.
      • Visual acuity, auditory ability, and clear written and verbal communication ability.
      • Manual dexterity and the ability for data input into various computer programs.
      • The ability to maintain professional behavior at all times.

      SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

      • Must reside within St. Clair County, IL or be willing to relocate to St. Clair County within six (6) months from hire date.
      • Must have a personal cell phone to download County IT Security Application onto for IT credentials.
      • A credit report is required by county policy for all employees involved in accounting or cashiering functions, the handling of money, or other positions that may involve responsibility for material value.

      • May require provision of services at off-site locations.

      • Auto ins u r a n c e in ef f ec t with at least the m i ni m um l i m i ts of l i a bi l i t y as outlined and required by the state of Illinois.
      • Adherence to all local, state and federal regulations pertaining to OSHA guidelines.
      • Health Department employees:
        • Must be current on CDC Healthcare Personnel Vaccine Recommendations, which include Hepatitis B, MMR (Measles, Mumps Rubella), Td/Tdap (Tetanus/Diphtheria/Pertussis), Varicella (chickenpox) and Meningococcal if over 65. Influenza and COVID vaccines are recommended and encouraged, but not required at this time and maybe subject to change.
        • Are required to have a TB test upon hire and separation of employment.
      • All employees must adhere to the St. Clair County Personnel Code.
      • Position contingent upon continued grant funding.
