      Our Summer Internship Program is designed to help apply your classroom knowledge to meaningful work experiences in a professional financial services environment. Throughout the 10-week program, you will work closely with colleagues to meet the business objectives and priorities defined by your specific line of business. Personal and professional development opportunities include an assigned mentor, exposure to executive leaders, collaboration with peers on a group project, and the option to participate in a community service project.

      The program runs mid-June through mid-August.

      Key Accountabilities

      The Accounting Intern may have the following tasks or projects:

      • Support the monthly and quarterly closing process as directed by the accounting staff
      • Assist the Balance & Control team in the daily cash transaction balancing process
      • Assist as directed with general accounting duties for various processes
      • Reviews daily activity and proposes adjusting entries as directed
      • Prepare ad hoc balance sheet and income statement analysis as directed
      • Assists accounting staff in performing procedures and within our internal control framework
      • Reconciliation of various general ledger accounts and bank accounts for bank, bancorp and affiliates as directed
      • Research and follow through on outstanding items or missing documentation to ensure prompt and proper clearance of dated item as directed
      • Assist in preparation of supporting documentation for internal, external audits and regulatory exams as needed
      • Assist in the preparation, documentation, and review of the financial reporting process

      Qualifications and Education Requirements

      • Pursing a bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
      • Preference for Junior or Senior standing at the time of internship
      • The candidate will gain exposure and offers many opportunities to engage with the various cross-functional groups including but not limited to Operations, Tax, Legal, Operations, Finance, Treasury, external auditors, and the Lines of Business which the Controllership group supports. To be considered for this role, candidates must have an introductory understanding of US GAAP, possess strong time management and analytical skills, and be detail oriented.

      • Self-starter with involvement in extra-curricular, community or university sponsored organizations
      • Adaptability and the ability to learn quickly and handle unexpected challenges with maturity and professionalism
      • Ability to work independently and in multiple teams
      • Strong verbal and written communication skills
      • Motivated to develop analytical and problem-solving skills
      • Proficient PC skills in including MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel)
