Job Description

- Reconcile balance sheet accounts on a monthly basis
- Prepare journal entries and post to the General Ledger
- Maintain adequate support for posted General Ledger entries
- Prepare monthly financial statements in accordance with GAAP and internal policy compliance
- Assist in the preparation of monthly financial presentation
- Assist in the preparation of annual budget
- Analyze monthly budget variances with various departmental leaders
- Prepare ad hoc financial reports as required
- Research transactions within various General Ledger accounts, as needed
- Assist with various audit activities, including the annual financial audit
- Manage, train, and mentor accounting supervisor and staff
- Directly interface with various members from other departments
- Review the work of others for accuracy, as needed
- Other duties as may be assigned

- 5-7 years of experience General Ledger accounting experience required
- Excellent spreadsheet sheet skills, specifically good knowledge of Microsoft Excel and other database applications
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to interact effectively with all levels throughout the Company
- Highly organized with ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver assignments on time
- High degree of integrity and professionalism including the ability to successfully deal with sensitive or confidential information
- Excellent problem solving and analytical skills
- Proven history of dependability and reliability
- The ability to work independently and as a team player
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of proper accounting treatment for all general ledger activities
- Ability to manage a team
- Knowledge of Great Plains Accounting or similar software is a plus but not required.
- Knowledge of MicroSoft Office software; specifically, Excel, Power Point and Word
- Intermediate level of EXCEL required
- CPA designation: or actively pursuing CPA designation preferred , but not required

The Accounting Manager will be a part of APMEX's expanding accounting team and will report directly to the controller. The Accounting Manager will perform all duties as necessary to ensure that all general ledger accounts are reconciled, and adjustments posted to ensure an accurate and timely month-end and year-end close and prepare monthly financial reporting.
