- Perform full month-end close activities, including bank reconciliations, prepaid expenses reconciliations, fixed assets records, accruals, equity roll-forwards, contract review, revenue recognition and more.
- Produce timely and accurate financial statements and regulatory reports.
- Review your own work for accuracy and completeness and review the work of others.
- Identify, research and resolve accounting issues, proactively identifying when technical assistance is needed.
- Manage business compliance reporting requirements and prepare and file necessary returns.
- Prepare schedules for audit support and provide requested audit documentation.
- Participate in budgeting and cash flow reporting as needed.
- Ensure adherence to appropriate accounting internal controls.
- Review identified Accounts Payable teams' work and any Sr Accountant work. Provide feedback and guidance to staff and Functional Managers on issues and performance regarding deadlines, coding, etc.
- Keep detailed and accurate records of client work in timekeeping systems for proper client billing.
- If assigned, follow established procedures to process client payrolls and maintain accurate and complete records.
- If assigned, on-board and off-board our clients' employees.
- Report up to client team Controller for deliverables and timelines.
- Be able to reconcile a Capitalization table.
- Understand various forms of equity financing, grant accounting, convertible notes, stock options and investment types to accurately record these transactions as needed.
- Perform other job-related tasks or projects as needed.
- Ability to effectively collaborate in a dynamic environment often requiring toggling between responsibilities and/or clients
- Possess excellent problem-solving skills
- Solid MS Office Suite experience, including exceptional Excel skills
- Possess exceptional accounting and math skills to accurately accomplish work, meeting client deliverables
- Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with vendors, clients and teams both in writing and verbally
- Must be able to have difficult conversations in a transparent, honest and respectful manner
- Possess self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, and relationship management skills in all aspects of work
- Be highly detail oriented
- Able to work successfully in a team environment as well as independently
- Possess a proactive and efficient mindset to maximize time and resources, meeting the needs of both team members and clients
- Ability to think, plan and execute strategically
- Bachelor's degree, preferably in Accounting, OR 10 years of relevant experience
- Minimum 5 years experience in operational accounting, auditing or consulting
- Experience with expense management platforms
- Minimum 2 years supervisory experience
- Experience working on multiple clients simultaneously a plus
- Experience with the following platforms: NetSuite, QuickBooks Online, BILL, Expensify, Box
- Experience working in the life science industry
- Remote or Telecommute work from home. Telecommuting employees have the choice to work in Corporate Headquarters. The company reserves the right to change the telecommuting portion of this policy at any time
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Ability to operate in a remote environment with frequent on-camera interactions

Summary:
The Accounting Manager at Engine Room performs a wide range of accounting related functions in support of client deliverables. As part of several internal client teams, the incumbent will communicate and collaborate with various Engine Room staff, as well as with our clients, ensuring accurate work that meets deadlines. Work must adhere to Engine Room standard policies and procedures, internal controls and GAAP rules consistently. Be an active participant on client teams, fostering an engaging and responsive mindset.
