      Location: Sodus, New York Disclaimer : Reliant headquarters are located at 10 Benton Place, Sodus, New York. The position will allow for some remote work flexibility; however, an in-person presence at our headquarters is expected.

      Schedule: Monday - Friday. Must be flexible to meet current and future business needs.

      General Summary:

      Reliant Credit union, ranked one of Rochester's top mid-sized workplaces six years in a row, seeks an Accounting Manager to join our team.


      This role is responsible for the accounting operations of the Credit Union. Those operations include overseeing the accuracy and timeliness of the accounting records, preparing internal and external financial reports, and maintaining a comprehensive set of internal controls.

      As an Accounting Manager at Reliant, you will:

      • Oversee accurate and efficient accounting operations, internal controls, and financial reporting for the Credit Union.
      • Work closely with the VP of Finance to ensure accounting estimates are accurate and well-supported.
      • Maintain a documented system of accounting internal controls, policies, and procedures.
      • Manage the accuracy and productivity of the daily activities of accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed asset records, and general accounting.
      • Effectively apply management practices in leading the work of assigned personnel—exercise managerial leadership duties.

      Requirements

      POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

      1. Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance from an accredited college or university.
      2. Five (5) years of prior experience in leading an accounting department preferably in a credit union/banking environment or public accounting environment.
      3. Certified Public Accountant designation or track preferred.


      KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

      1. Advanced knowledge and understanding of GAAP and accounting principles, terms, and guidelines.
      2. Thorough knowledge of financial institution accounting concepts, practices, and financial reports.
      3. Strong attention to detail.
      4. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
      5. Proficient in accounting and general ledger software.
      6. Effective analytical, problem solving, planning, interpersonal and organizational skills.
      7. Strong planning, organization and time management skills, with ability to meet deadlines.
      8. Work independently and collaborate cross-functionally, supporting an overall team effort.
      9. Remain calm and maintain a professional demeanor when dealing with difficult situations.
      10. Perform in a fast-paced, multi-task work environment.

      PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

      1. Use of keyboard, monitor, telephone, and other standard office equipment.
      2. Communicate effectively in person and via telephone, video conferencing, email, and written documents.
      3. Lift and move objects up to 20 pounds.
      4. Access document equipment and files above and below waist levels.
      5. Sit and/or stand for extended periods of time.
      6. Work a flexible work schedule, which may require early mornings, late evenings, and/or weekends.
      7. Travel outside of the credit union’s service area occasionally.
