Job Title: Accounting Specialist Location: Fort Lauderdale-Davie, Florida Work Type: Full Time with Full Benefits Job Category: Non-Exempt Hiring Range: Pay Basis: Hourly
Subject to Grant Funding?: No Essential Job Functions: 1. Reviews and processes payment requests, accounts payable and accounts receivable, expense reports and other related documents to ensure adherence to University policies and accuracy of coding and data.
2. Responds to non-routine inquiries and resolves account discrepancies requiring broad understanding of work-area policies and procedures to ensure questions are answered and discrepancies resolved in a timely manner.
3. Prepares reports and assists with fiscal administration processes, and year end closing to ensure accurate fiscal reporting.
4. Submits a copy of daily deposits to NSU Accounting / Finance Dept.
5. Verifies totals to be posted to general ledger.
6. Interacts with department heads and vendors, handling inquiries, statement reconciliation; researching and resolving all A/P disputes.
7. Organizes and files accounting documents.
8. Performs other duties as assigned.Marginal Job Functions: Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities: 1. Must be computer literate, intermediate knowledge of MS Excel, Word and Outlook; including a thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office software.
2. Must be familiar with Accounting practices.
3. 10 Key or numeric data entry skills.
4. Ability to handle a high volume of transactions.
5. Detail oriented.Job Requirements: Required Certifications/Licensures: Required Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent Major (if required): Required Experience: High School Diploma or Equivalent and minimum two (2) years of experience in accounting or related field.

Associate's degree in a related field.Preferred Qualifications: 1. Associate's Degree and one (1) year of experience in accounting or related field.
