  Accounting Specialist - General Ledger

  MAIN PURPOSE

  This position will offer technical accounting support to stakeholders and other areas within the FACT community by providing analysis and consultation on various business-related matters. Works independently and a part of project teams.

  YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  The primary responsibilities of this role, Accounting Specialist - General Ledger, are to:

  • Coordinate assessment, application and documentation of complex transactions
  • Review, document and reconcile financial transactions accurately including performing complex variance analysis
  • May lead transactional and closing processes
  • Apply technical accounting expertise to ensure compliance
  • Lead/support monthly and quarterly closing, consolidation and reporting processes and apply methods to improve efficiency
  • Use technical knowledge and analytical skills to identify opportunities to provide less complex and more efficient solutions for stakeholders
  • Provide high level knowledge of systems that impact accounting transactions and identify methods to improve efficiency
  • Provide direction for monthly and quarterly closing, consolidation and reporting processes and apply methods to improve efficiency
  • Enter manual journal entries related to one or more Bayer divisions
  • Supports key stakeholders and peers within the FACT community using technical knowledge and analytical skills
  • Identify opportunities to provide less complex and more efficient solutions for stakeholders

  Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Working knowledge of the requirements of technical accounting, consolidation, and financial reporting in a corporate environment
  • Prior experience & demonstrated understanding in external reporting /auditing / corporate accounting
  • In-depth knowledge of internal accounting and control policies and procedures
  • Experience in driving results in project teams and leading one or more aspects within a project team
  • Demonstrated alignment with Bayer’s Values (Leadership, Integrity, Flexibility, and Efficiency)
  • Ability to influence people and lead change, projects, and initiatives
  • Ability to interact and communicate effectively at all levels and with individuals from various parts of the organization
  • Ability to recognize, analyze, and interpret data in different forms for various purposes
  • Demonstrated ability to work through ambiguity and usage of sound judgment in making decisions
  • Motivated, self-starting individual
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel

  Preferred Qualifications:

  • BA/BS in Accounting, Finance or relevant degree required with 5+years of Accounting, finance or relevant experience preferred, or MBA or CPA with 3+ years of relevant experience preferred.
