Job Description

- Is responsible for Balance Sheet reconciliation of court and golf course accounts
- Functions as System administrator for Citizen Self Service. Assist in reconciliation of data obtained from accounting systems lacking an interface to the central accounting system, especially accounts receivable.
- Maintains and manages returned checks – this includes contacting citizens regarding payment of returned checks, booking the appropriate journal entries for the returned items, and maintaining the balance sheet reconciliation of the account.
- Maintains and manage a monthly fixed asset roll-forward – this includes scrubbing the general ledger for fixed asset additions and keying the assets into the system, communicating with various city departments regarding additions and retirements, assisting in preparation for yearly auctions, and assisting in the preparation of the fixed asset file to be used for the annual financial statement audit. Also, to assist in the implementation of a bar code system for fixed assets.
- Assists in preparation of annual grant schedule and quarterly reconcilement of each grant file. Coordinates with other departments to ensure that the Finance Department has received the necessary documentation in preparation for the annual financial audit.
- Maintains and Manages Lodgers’ tax files, assisting in the quarterly and annual reconciliation of the file as well as performing Lodgers’ tax audits annually.
- May be cross trained to function as a backup to other positions.

- Must be proficient in Microsoft office
- Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel required
- Ability to perform duties with a high degree of attention to detail and with a high degree of accuracy.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the Finance staff and general public.
Functions as a Revenue Accountant, ensuring that data from external accounting systems are transferred to central accounting system accurately and maintains the City’s accounts receivable system for Courts and Golf Course.
May serve on various employee committees, as required and assigned.
This position is subject to the City of Hobbs’ Drug and Alcohol Testing Policy which includes one or more of the following: pre-employment testing, post accident testing, random testing, reasonable suspicion testing, return to duty testing and follow-up testing.
Education and Experience:
Graduation from high school required. Three (3) years of strong (controller level) accounting experience with knowledge of general accounting principles and prior accounting experience required.

Valid state issued driver’s license.
