      The Accounts Payable Clerk performs accounts payable work by ensuring payments are completed, invoices are reconciled in accordance with the Emerald Queen Casino’s policies and procedures.

      Starting wage is $26.70/hr increasing to $27.27/hr at successful completion of 90-day orientation period. This full-time position features excellent employer-paid medical, dental, vision and life insurance benefits.

      MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

      • High School Diploma or GED equivalent is required.
      • AA degree in accounting preferred.
      • Minimum of two years corporate accounts payable experience in a high volume mid to large sized company is required.
      • Experience in basic accounting procedures, accounts payable/general ledger processes and financial chart of accounts.
      • Experience with accounting systems and electronic filing software. MAS 500 experience preferred.
      • Experience with MS Office Suite, including proficiency in MS Excel and Word.
      • Excellent ten key and math skills.
      • Ability to handle questions from department managers and vendors with a high level of professionalism.
      • High degree of accuracy, attention to detail and confidentiality.
      • Additional education or related experience may substitute for the minimum requirements of the position.

      ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
      1. Ensures invoices with purchase orders and receiving documents match and checks documents for extensions.
      2. Prepares invoices for input and payment.
      3. Reconciles Casino records to vendor statements.
      4. Prepares payment by verifying documentation and requesting disbursements.
      5. Answers phone calls and responds to questions from departments or vendors in regards to invoices.
      6. Maintains both open and paid accounts payable files.
      7. Balances and prepares month-end accounts payable reports.
      8. Prepares month-end accruals.
      9. Reviews expense and asset accounts and prepares monthly-end journal entries.
      10. Prepares accounts payable records for archiving by scanning.
      11. Performs other accounts payable assignments as requested by the Accounts Payable Lead.
      12. Reviews and maintains accounts payable records to ensure compliance with accounting practices, procedures, and policies.
      13. Assist in other areas of Finance such as assisting the front desk or as directed by the Accounts Payable Manager.

      COMPETENCIES:

      As an Accounts Payable Clerk, the ideal candidate must have knowledge of general accounts payable practices, principles, and procedures, as well as an understanding of Tribal-State Gaming Compact compliance requirements. They should be skilled in using personal computers and accounting software such as MS Word, Excel, and other relevant programs, along with proficiency in operating a ten-key calculator and other office equipment. The role requires the ability to process invoices and receivables, review and maintain accurate accounts payable records, prepare and verify invoices for payment, and reconcile account discrepancies. Additionally, the candidate must be able to review expenses and asset accounts, prepare month-end journal entries, respond to inquiries from vendors and departments, and maintain organized accounting records and files. Strong mathematical skills, attention to detail, and effective verbal and written communication are essential for success in this role.

      PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
      This position requires prolonged periods of sitting, use of concentration; hand and finger dexterity; occasional standing, walking, and lifting items weighing up to 40 pounds; verbally communicating for extended periods; use of eye sight. While this work is performed in an office environment, the position is subject to a smoke-filled casino.

      ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

      • Must be able to work all scheduled shifts to include day, swing, graveyard and holidays

      Must be able to obtain a Class IIIA gaming license as required by the Puyallup Tribal Gaming Regulatory Office and the Washington State Gaming Commission.
