      Essential Duties and Responsibilities

      • Efficiently receive, sort, and electronically store incoming invoices on behalf of the company
      • Strictly comply with all Payment Beneficiary Handling and Fraud Prevention measures of the company, and any additional anti-fraud measures, as may be updated from time to time
      • Process daily accounting reports timely and efficiently, on an alternating schedule with team; review and action on any report outliers, discrepancies, or other items requiring follow-up or escalation
      • Accurately and timely review, reference, and post AP invoices
      • Monitor cashflow and schedule weekly/monthly/periodic payments accordingly, and in collaboration with other accounting staff:
        • Weekly vendor payment run
        • Foreign agent statement settlements and contras
        • Carrier/Steamship statement payments
        • Vet and process real-time ad hoc online payments as requested by DJS operating staff
        • Other payments as necessary
      • Verify accuracy of and enter or approve outgoing electronic or check payments
      • Communicate effectively to provide as-needed accounting support to operational staff, including assisting with job billing issues; resolving invoice discrepancies, training to reduce billing errors, discrepancies, etc.
      • Leave adequate trail of reproducibility for all accounting transactions; maintain thorough and accurate documentation (including electronic) in accordance with company policy, generally accepted accounting principles and applicable law
      • Look for and suggest possible process improvements (new reports, cross checks, or other procedures) to improve accuracy, efficiency, or protection against fraud
      • Maintain proper filing and storage (physical or electronic) of accounting records, including updated vendor contact and banking/beneficiary templates, both in Cargowise and in company used provider platforms (i.e., commercial banking platform and foreign exchange providers) • Prepare other periodic accounting reports as occasionally requested by management
      • Maintain a broad working knowledge of the accounts receivable position of the company
      • Cross train and assist on other accounting duties as requested or assigned (including, but not limited to, ACH Statement processing, Cash Receipts, Bank Reconciliation, Credit Card Reconciliation, and other General month-end accounting duties and related tasks.)

      Education/Experience: High school diploma or GED equivalent; 2 years relevant accounting or banking experience, or higher education in accounting; or equivalent combination of education and experience

      Language Ability: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret routine business correspondence. Ability to write basic reports, business correspondence, and procedures. Ability to effectively communicate information and respond to questions from clients, vendors, coworkers, and managers.

      Math Ability: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages, and to apply such concepts to practical situations.

      Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

      Certificates and Licenses: No certifications needed Computer Skills: Knowledge of and comfort with using Microsoft Office applications, especially Outlook and Excel, to efficiently manage job duties; ability to learn Wisetech Global/CargoWiseOne operating system and BravoTran AP software.
