      Job Summary:

      AP Specialist I:

      This position is a trainee-level, learning proficiency in technical accounts maintenance work related primarily to accounts payable operations. Primary duties include auditing a variety of expenditure and purchase order documents; printing check, submitting electronic payments, or preparing scheduled payments; entering accounts payable data into the computer; routing invoices to directors and executives; processing travel and expense reimbursements; reconciling accounts payable accounts; tracking and reconciling contract payments; and researching accounting errors, providing correct information to supervisor, and processing corrections.

      This position performs routine technical work rather than professional accounting work related to analysis and reporting of financial information. Once proficient, this position will be promoted to an Accounts Payable Specialist II.

      AP Specialist II:

      Under general direction of the Controller, incumbents perform journey-level technical accounts maintenance work related primarily to accounts payable operations. Primary duties include auditing a variety of expenditure and purchase order documents; printing check, submitting electronic payments, or preparing scheduled payments; entering accounts payable data into the computer; routing invoices to directors and executives; processing travel and expense reimbursements; reconciling accounts payable accounts; tracking and reconciling contract payments; and researching accounting errors, providing correct information to supervisor, and processing corrections.

      This position performs routine technical work rather than professional accounting work related to analysis and reporting of financial information, which is performed by the Fiscal Analyst II positions.

      Minimum Qualifications for the Job:

      Accounts Payable Specialist I:

      • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.

        • Preferred Education : Associates degree in accounting or certificate in classes related to accounts payable.

      • Preferred Experience: One (1) year of experience as an account’s payable technician. Experience must have included working with a data processing supported accounting system.

      Accounts Payable Specialist II:

      • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.

        • Preferred Education : Associates degree in accounting or certificate in classes related to accounts payable.

      • Experience: Experience(s): Three (3) years of experience as an accounts payable technician. Experience must have included working with a data processing supported accounting system OR One (1) year as an Accounts Payable Specialist I at BRH.

        • Substitution: Associates degree may be substituted experience year-for-year.

      Internal Hires: Pay rate will be determined based on applicable personnel rule or union contract terms.

      External Hires: Step placement and rate of pay will be determined based upon relevant experience.

      • AP Specialist I starts at $24.69 per hour.

      • AP Specialist II starts at $26.28 per hour.
