      Are you a student eager to roll up your sleeves and get a little dirt on your hands while you jumpstart your career in diesel mechanics? Do you think tools rule and get excited at the opportunity to work on a variety of large equipment? The Acme Tools for Tomorrow program provides you with a scholarship opportunity with paid internships leading into full-time employment after successful graduation from your diesel technology program.

      The Acme Tools for Tomorrow program offers a blend of classroom and lab education at the North Dakota School of Science and Technology (NDSCS) with paid internships at Acme Equipment in Grand Forks, ND. Over the course of two years, students receive a quality education, hands-on training, and real-world experience working on a variety of construction and landscaping equipment, with a focus on Kubota products. After successfully completing the program, graduates earn an Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree in Diesel Technology and are offered full-time positions with Acme Tools.

      For over 75 years, Acme Tools has continued to be a premier retailer of tools and equipment at our locations throughout North Dakota, Minnesota, and Iowa and online by serving contractors, woodworkers, and DIY enthusiasts with a wide selection of tools and equipment from all the major manufacturers. In 2013, we expanded our line of construction and landscaping equipment through a new division, Acme Equipment.       Student Responsibilities:

      • Enroll in the Diesel Technology program at NDSCS
      • Attend all of your classes and labs
      • Maintain a GPA of at least a 2.5 on a 4.0 scale at all times while enrolled in the program
      • Complete your internships with Acme Tools and maintain satisfactory attendance and performance
      • Submit to a background check and drug screening
      • Remain employed with Acme Tools after graduation for at least 3 consecutive full years

      A Day as a Service Technician - Large Equipment (Diesel Mechanic)

      Your daily routine revolves around troubleshooting and repairing electrical systems, hydraulic systems, and gas and diesel engines, ensuring their proper functionality. You prioritize keeping workstations clean and organized, both indoors and outdoors. While performing service calls, you also maintain clean and working service trucks. Effective communication with customers, the Service Supervisor, and the parts department is crucial to ensure customers are updated on the status and location of repairs needed and parts are ordered and received in a timely manner. Service Technicians - Large Equipment prioritize safety standards while completing assigned tasks efficiently. Additionally, you maintain accurate records, including parts ordered and equipment repair hours. Service Technicians - Large Equipment commonly work on skid steers, mowers, and Kubota tractors. In this role, you must be willing to work indoors and outdoors in all seasons and cross-train in other repair areas.

      Requirements:

      • Valid Driver's License with a clean driving record
      • Ability to lift up to 75 lbs.
      • Ability to sit, stand, and walk for the majority of your shift
      • Ability to frequently push, pull, squat, bend, and reach
