We are seeking an Acoustic Engineer/Consultant to join our friendly Acoustics team in our Melbourne office. Our Acoustic team currently consists of 3 acoustic consultants with experience in architectural, building and environmental acoustics.

We are happy to consider applicants from recent graduates of Acoustic Engineering keen to begin their career in Acoustic Services consulting.

We are looking for someone who is willing to learn or further improve their skills and experience in acoustics, by assisting engineers to undertake everyday tasks such as measuring noise on site, performing calculations, writing reports or taking part in design meetings.

The role is Melbourne based, with most tasks undertaken at the office. Occasional site visits are typical. Some flexibility in work hours is required – as some noise measurements must be undertaken after hours.

      • Delivering projects with minimal supervision including project planning, client liaison and provision of advice.
      • Undertake site visits and acoustic measurements in the field
      • Noise and vibration surveys
      • Using Acoustic modelling using software/tools such as SoundPLAN, STRUTT, CadnaA, EASE
      • Participate in meetings with clients and other consultants
      • Report and specification writing
      • Adhere to professional standards, ethics and Stantec quality procedures
      • Contribute to our company culture

To be successful for this role you'll need:

      • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering is preferred, with selective courses in Noise and Vibration, however candidates from an Aerospace engineering or Physics background will also be considered
      • Have 2 + years experience in a similar role
      • Confident to be allocated acoustic engineering tasks
      • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
      • Knowledge of Australian Building Codes and standards
      • Knowledge of acoustic modelling software (SoundPLAN, STRUTT, CadnaA, EASE) desirable but not essential
      • Knowledge of utilising acoustic measurement devices is preferred
      • Knowledge of Excel is preferred
      • Positive, can-do attitude
      • Ability to prioritise workloads to meet deadlines
