      Job Description:

      Acquisitions & Strategy Associate

      Overview:

The Acquisitions & Strategy Associate role is a dynamic position that will give you exposure to many different departments (M&A, Finance, etc.) and companies at Jonas Software. You will work directly with senior management, ensuring they have the data and information required to make critical business decisions. You will gather and analyze data, formulate and test hypotheses, develop and communicate recommendations, and most importantly, execute on the recommendations to drive tangible results.

      The job responsibilities include:

      • Work on analytical projects focused on benchmarking and sharing best practices across the Jonas group of companies (135+ vertical market software companies).

      • Lead internal consulting projects with individual companies at Jonas.

      • Assist the Mergers and Acquisitions team with new acquisitions.

      • Develop financial models to support the viability of initiatives.

      • Support senior management with ad-hoc analysis as required.

      Job Qualifications:

      • Bachelor’s degree and excellent academic record required.

      • 1 – 3 years of full-time work experience in investment banking, private equity, transaction services, consulting or accounting (software industry experience viewed favorably).

      • Professional designation (ex. CPA, CA), or actively working towards one, considered an asset.

      • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills including proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel.

      • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to be able to work effectively with people at all levels in an organization. We’re looking for a solid team player who’s also an independent thinker.

      • Strong organizational skills – you do not let the details slip.

      • Endless curiosity and personal commitment to learning and development.

      • A self-starter who loves taking initiative and seeing things through to completion.

      • Willingness to travel.

      • Lastly, the following quote from Ray Dalio should resonate with you:

      • All of these people are independent thinkers who do not let anything or anyone stand in the way of achieving their audacious goals. They have very strong mental maps of how things should be done, and at the same time a willingness to test those mental maps in the world of reality and change the way they do things to make them work better. They are extremely resilient, because their need to achieve what they envision is stronger than the pain they experience as they struggle to achieve it. All are able to see both big pictures and granular details and synthesize the perspectives they see at both levels, whereas most people only see one or the other. They are assertive and open minded at the same time. Above all, they are passionate about what they are doing, intolerant of people who work for them who aren't excellent at what they do, and want to have a big, beneficial impact on the world. Nothing is ever good enough, and they experience the gap between what is and what could be as both a tragedy and a source of unending motivation.”

      Key Competencies:

Drive for Results. Can be counted on to exceed goals successfully; is constantly and consistently one of the top performers; very bottom-line oriented; steadfastly pushes self and others for results.

Interpersonal Savvy. Relates well to all kinds of people, up, down, and sideways, inside and outside the organization; builds appropriate rapport; builds constructive and effective relationships; uses diplomacy and tact; can diffuse even high-tension situations comfortably.

Action Oriented. Enjoys working hard; is action oriented and full of energy for the things he/she sees as challenging; not fearful of acting with a minimum of planning; seizes more opportunities than others.

Self-Development. Is personally committed to and actively works to continuously improve him/herself; understands that different situations and levels may call for different skills and approaches; works to deploy strengths; works on compensating for weakness and limits.

Intellectual Horsepower. Is bright and intelligent; deals with concepts and complexity comfortably; described as intellectually sharp, capable, and agile.

Integrity and Trust. Is widely trusted; is seen as a direct, truthful individual; can present the unvarnished truth in an appropriate and helpful manner; keeps confidences; admits mistakes; doesn’t misrepresent him/herself for personal gain.

Strategic Agility. Sees ahead clearly; can anticipate future consequences and trends accurately; has broad knowledge and perspective; is future oriented; can articulately paint credible pictures and visions of possibilities and likelihoods; can create competitive and breakthrough strategies and plans.

Dealing with Ambiguity. Can effectively cope with change; can shift gears comfortably; can decide and act without having the total picture; isn’t upset when things are up in the air; doesn’t have to finish things before moving on; can comfortably handle risk and uncertainty.
