      What is the opportunity?

      The Actuarial Analyst is a member of the Process Improvement team within the broader Group Risk Management Insurance (GRMI) department. The candidate will contribute to the following: 1) Process Improvement initiatives - assessing and analyzing current state processes to recommend and implement robust and efficient automated solutions, with the goal of reducing GRMI's time spent on month end reporting 2) Technology Risk - data stewardship granting appropriate access permissions to department systems and data, assist with resolving LAN, SAN server problems when services are unexpectedly stressed or interrupted (server crashes, shrinkage of disk free-space)

      What will you do?

      • Understand and assess current state processes within GRMI team and the broader Financial close process. Design and develop user friendly automated tools/processes, to streamline the month end reporting activities. Train team members on new processes.
      • Identify data requirements, communicate technical issues to manager on a timely basis. Document methodology, process and issues following the documentation standards.
      • When collaborating with IT on improvement initiatives, conduct User Acceptance Testing (UAT) by designing test cases, performing tests and documenting findings, investigating issues
      • Support the Digital and Data Enablement sub-team as a backup working with different teams within GRMI and with IT partners to oversee, monitor and coordinate department technology resources to meet users and key stakeholders' needs, satisfy audit requirements
      • Collaborate with other Insurance teams (IT, Finance) to coordinate project deliverables
      • Foster innovation and promote diversity of thought, bring forward fresh perspectives, constructively challenge the status quo to generate new ideas and opportunities

      Must-have:

      • Bachelor’s degree majoring in Actuarial Science, or other relevant Majors (e.g. Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Business, Economics)
      • Expert user of Microsoft Excel and Power Query, knowledge and work experience with programming language, including but not limited to Python, SQL, R, VBA. Experience using analysis tools (Tableau, QlikView, PowerBI)
      • Initiative - an independent thinker with a proven track record in strong collaboration, analysis, investigation skills, working with software and system environments
      • Strong oral and written communication skills, as well as the ability to deal with ambiguity and flexibility to adapt to change
      • Ability and willingness to partner effectively with other actuarial leaders, as well as with leaders of other functional areas

      Nice to have:

      • Knowledge of a broad area of Insurance expertise (by product and by function) gained through 4+ years of direct or indirect related work experience and training
      • Knowledge of IFRS 17 Standard and implications to insurance companies
      • Experience working with Moody's AXIS Actuarial software including EnterpriseLink and GridLink and related system environment
