      We are seeking a talented individual to join our H&B Consulting team at Mercer as an Actuarial Health & Benefits Consultant. This role will be based in Montreal, Quebec City, or Ottawa. This is a hybrid role that has a requirement of working at least three days a week in the office.

      The Health Consultant will lead consulting engagements with 500+ life employers regarding their medical, dental, life, disability benefit plans and programs. This role will also negotiate with benefits carriers and vendors to secure health and welfare plan coverage for these employers. As Consultant, you will contribute to business development opportunities for the Montreal Market

      We will count on you to:

      • Leading (or co-leading) complex client engagements, including managing overall service delivery, financial evaluations, plan design, renewals, business placement, benchmarking and other studies
      • Developing sophisticated benefits design and renewal strategies and drive the development of tools and solutions to address complex client issues
      • Effectively communicate Mercer's position on latest industry trends to clients
      • Being accountable for revenue/profitability for client accounts and projects
      • Generating sales by expanding revenues from existing clients and by leading prospecting efforts with new clients
      • Setting strategic direction that creates demand for new products/services in the marketplace
      • Review works related to the actuarial valuation of the obligation and expenses related to post-employment retirement benefits and / or post-employment benefits - using Canadian, U.S. and/or international accounting standards and according to the Mercer standards (optional);

      What you need to have:

      • BA/BS degree in mathematics, statistics, finance or a related field.
      • Previous experience with large consulting firms dealing with major accounts.
      • Fellow of the Society of Actuaries / AMF license (or the process of obtaining)
      • At least 5 years’ experience in identifying, designing, recommending and implementing efficient, innovative business solutions to clients' complex health care benefits challenges
      • Expertise and industry reputation in the health & benefits field
      • Fluency in English and French as the incumbent must communicate with bilingual employees and clientele across Canada
