      Symetra has an exciting opportunity to join our dynamic Experience Studies Team as a Retirement Actuary II!

      About the role

      The Experience Studies Team is responsible for monitoring mortality and lapse experience, setting liability assumptions, and producing various ad-hoc analyses for both Life and Retirement divisions. We are seeking an experienced actuary with a strong background in annuities to enhance our team.

      In this role, you will apply your expertise and technical skills to analyze data, make recommendations, and offer valuable insights based on your experience. Your work will support management and involve collaboration with different teams, with a focus on fixed deferred and indexed annuities.

      In this role you will:

      • Conduct advanced data analysis to determine trends and provide actionable insights.
      • Develop and recommend assumptions for mortality and lapse experience.
      • Produce various ad-hoc analyses to support the Retirement division.
      • Collaborate with pricing, valuation and finance actuarial teams to improve assumptions in actuarial models for fixed deferred and indexed annuities.
      • Improve processes and create efficiencies with reporting, documentation, and transparency.
      • Communicate complex insights effectively to internal business partners, Senior Leadership, and Executives.

      Compensation

      Salary Range: $121,300 - $202,200 plus eligibility for the company annual bonus program.

      Qualifications

      Your education, skills and experience

      • High School Diploma or equivalent experience is required.
      • Bachelor's degree or equivalent with a strong quantitative background including college-level mathematics is required.
      • FSA with 5-10 years of experience or career ASA with 15+ years of experience.
      • 5+ years of insurance-related actuarial experience is required.
      • Solid experience with fixed deferred or indexed annuity type products and related regulations, through valuation, pricing, or experience studies type of work.
      • Strong analytical and technical skills - Excel, SQL, or Python are all a plus!
      • Ability to communicate complex insights effectively to internal business partners, Senior Leadership, and Executives.
      • Commitment to self-development and advanced industry and technical knowledge.
