      Adaptive Recreation Leader

      The City of Peoria seeks to hire a Recreation Leader I in the Adaptive Recreation Department to Department performs many different essential functions for the City of Peoria, all to meet the needs of the adaptive population in and around Peoria. As a Recreation Leader I, the candidate would work in a variety of adaptive programs; a few examples are listed below:

      • Special Olympics
      • Friday Night Dances
      • Social activities
      • DDD Summer Programs
      • DDD Adult Day/After School Programs

      The primary job responsibility for candidates from this recruitment will be working in the Adaptive Recreation Division assisting with Friday Night Dances, Special Olympics sports and social activities.

      The mission of the City of Peoria’s Adaptive Recreation Department is “to provide a continuum of leisure opportunities and related services designed to enhance the quality of life for individuals with disabilities.”

      The full hiring range for this position is $15.56 - $17.50.

      The ideal candidate for this position will:

      • Have a solid background working or volunteering with individuals with disabilities.
      • Demonstrate a passion for improving the lives of our participants.

      Other Requirements

      Minimum Requirements:

      • Education/Age: High School - 16 years of age allowed, but 18 years of age preferred
      • Experience: Must have at least 6 months volunteer/work experience with individuals with disabilities
      • Must provide at least 3 job references.

      Licenses and Certifications:

      • Must have a current CPR/First Aid certificate or able to sit for training
      • Valid Arizona Class “D” Driver’s License required upon hire.
