- Attend and complete UNIV 101 instructor orientation and training during the week prior to the start of classes in August. Training will include synchronous sessions and asynchronous work. Teaching assignments are contingent upon completion of these training sessions.
- Teach 2-4 sections of UNIV 101 using a pre-designed syllabus, instructor guide, D2L course site and a common online textbook.
- Secure class coverage when needed for emergent conflicts with class time.
- Hold weekly office hours for students in the course.
- Attend weekly 60-minute instructional team meetings.
- Provide weekly grading, feedback, and support to students.
- Knowledge and demonstrated use of learner-centered teaching, universal design for learning, and inclusive teaching practices.
- Knowledge of and the ability to communicate the purpose and value of general education
- Ability to establish rapport with students
- Ability to use a variety of instructional technologies
- Ability to work collaboratively with an instructional team
- Master’s degree or higher in Education, Higher Education, Student Development, Adult Learning, or related field; or, Master’s degree or higher in any discipline plus 18 graduate units in Education, Higher Education, Student Development, Adult Learning, or related field; or Master’s degree or higher in any discipline plus a minimum of three years teaching or professional experience working with first-year college students.
- Experience teaching undergraduate students in for-credit courses or non-credit experiences.
- PhD or terminal degree in Education, Higher Education, Student Development, Adult Learning, or related field; or, PhD or terminal degree in any discipline plus 18 graduate units in Education, Higher Education, Student Development, Adult Learning, or related field; or PhD or terminal degree in any discipline plus a minimum of three years teaching or professional experience working with first-year students.
- Three years experience teaching undergraduate courses.

This in-person course, required for all new first-year UA students, will utilize a common syllabus and reading to provide students with a foundation for the GE curriculum at UA. The OGE is seeking instructors with a passion for general education and teaching first-year college students. These in-person courses meet once a week for the full fall semester.
