      As a Weld Program Coordinator, you will:

      • Coordinate, update, and manage the BAE Systems San Diego Ship Repair Weld Program, ensuring accuracy and compliance with industry standards and customer requirements.
      • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of welder testing, technical documentation, and certification using the WeldCert application.
      • Schedule and coordinate welder testing, training, and certification with assigned craft managers and the Training Department.
      • Verify the active and current status of welders in the WeldCert application and ensure that all welders meet the required qualifications and certifications.
      • Facilitate supervision, testing, and documentation of weld/braze qualification testing, including:
        -Coordinating testing schedules and personnel
        -Ensuring proper testing equipment and materials are available
        -Documenting test results and variables
        -Conducting non-destructive testing (NDT) as required
      • Provide welding coupons with unique identification and documentation for testing and certification purposes.
      • Conduct weld surveillances onboard ships and in manufacturing and repair shops to ensure compliance with industry standards and customer requirements.
      • Assign, monitor, and update weld equipment assignments and repairs as needed.
      • Develop and maintain reports and metrics to track program performance, including welder certification rates, testing schedules, and equipment utilization.
      • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including crafts and quality, to ensure that welding processes and procedures are aligned with company goals and objectives.
      • Stay up-to-date with industry developments and changes to welding standards and regulations, and implement updates to the welding program as necessary.

      Typically a High School Diploma and 2 years work experience or equivalent experience

      Required Skills and Education

      • High School Diploma or equivalent
      • 2 years of relevant experience
      • Knowledge of plate and pipe welding processes and techniques (Flux Core Arc Welding, Gas Tungsten Arc Welding, Shielded Metal Arc Welding, Gas Metal Arc Welding)
      • Knowledge of NAVSEA Standard Items and Military Standards
      • Strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
      • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Outlook and Excel.

      Preferred Skills and Education

      • Bilingual in English and Spanish
      • Welding Program Coordination Experience
