- Recent experience in pediatric nursing
- Two (2) years of acute care hospital experience in pediatrics
- Experience with chemotherapy administration
- Clinical research experience
- Master’s Degree in Nursing
- Experience using electronic medical record system (i.e., Epic, APEX)
- PALS certification
- Experience with procedural sedation
- Baccalaureate degree with one (1) year of clinical experience; or a Master’s degree with six (6) months of clinical experience; or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
- Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of California
- Active American heart Association CPR certification
- APHON Certification for Chemotherapy/Biotherapy or willingness to obtain within 6 months of hire
- Attention to detail; strong interpersonal skills; excellent, effective verbal and written communication skills to coordinate with subjects, team members, other departments and outside institutions; and the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment while working with a diverse subject population
- Ability to work well independently, complete projects in a timely manner, and prioritize multiple projects to ensure the completion of essential tasks by deadlines
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Windows
- Ability to use an electronic medical record system
- Ability to establish cooperative working relationships with patients, co-workers, & physicians
- Demonstrated knowledge of Good Clinical Practice
- Skills and experience necessary to successfully complete blood draws as well as start IV lines
- Strict adherence to protocols and safety guidelines

The Administrative Nurse 1 assists the Nursing Director in ensuring the quality of a patient care in a specific patient care area and serves as a role model for professional nursing practice. Assists with the administration and management of personnel, fiscal, and material resources on a 24-hour basis. Assumes responsibility for the unit in areas delegated and in the absence of the Nursing Director
The Administrative Nurse 1 (AN1) is also responsible for the assessment of pediatric patient needs, implementation of research protocols and nursing interventions, and evaluation of outcomes. The AN1 is responsible for facilitating medical research based on individual protocol requirements data collection and/or collection of specimens within the CTSI Clinical Research Center for the implementation of approved protocols. This position requires professional nursing knowledge, leadership skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with other members of the health care team as well as the knowledge, skills, and abilities to provide competent patient care. The Nurse reports to the Nursing Director. The Nurse will collaborate with all interdisciplinary services.
