Job summary
The Obesity Department is looking to recruit an enthusiastic and motivated band 3 Admin Support worker to join our team. This post requires the post holder to provide an efficient and comprehensive administrative and typing service to the Obesity Department ensuring that the work is prioritised according to the ever-changing demands of the service. The post requires the ability to work on your own initiative, dealing with all aspects of the work and referring to colleagues when necessary in relation to issues outside of own area of expertise. Candidates should be flexible and adaptable in their approach and able to work as part of a team as well as on their own initiative.
The Obesity Service is a busy Outpatient department located in the new Outpatient Centre, near the main hospital site (within the Travelodge hotel site) and focuses on the Medical management of Obesity and pre-operative and post-operative care for our Bariatric Surgery patients.
Main duties of the job

Job responsibilities
To provide admin duties to support the overall effective running of the Obesity department
To provide an excellent standard of typing support to the Obesity team. Typing duties may include touch, digital audio and copy typing.
Undertaking data input duties to ensure computerised records are kept up to date and accurate at all times, including filing, scanning, photocopying and ICE filing.
The role will include typing support checking of letters at speed from dictation, and other tasks associated with the production and circulation of clinical correspondence.
To validate dictations to ensure the patient details are correct by cross-referencing the profiling window with the dictation. To recognise inconsistencies and anomalies within dictations and escalate to the named Author, Medical Secretary or Business Manager if necessary
Answering telephone calls and escalating concerns and queries from patients to the appropriate clinician and supporting with contacting patients to book/reschedule/cancel appointments as directed
To develop a wider knowledge of the service in order to facilitate patient queries via email/telephone and to ensure any relevant actions are completed
To support with admin tasks related to any pilot schemes, pathway changes or digital implementation within the service
To carry out any other reasonable duties as assigned by the Manager commensurate with grade
Observing strict confidentiality in all matters concerning patients and visitors
To be aware of Departmental Health and Safety requirements
