      The County of Yolo is recruiting for one regular, full-time position in the class of Administrative Clerk I/II at the Yolo County Sheriff's Office.

      The selected candidate will be placed at either the Administrative Clerk I or II level depending on their qualifications and experience. The salary range for the classification level I and II are as follows:

      Administrative Clerk I: $37,294.40 - $45,323.20 Annually
      Administrative Clerk II: $40,497.60 - $49,212.80 Annually

      The Position
      The candidate selected for this position will provide support to the Civil Division and the Sheriff's Office. Duties include greeting visitors, answering phone calls, and providing information, directions, and assistance. The role also involves composing and preparing materials such as correspondence and reports, fingerprinting employees and the public, and completing data entry and filing. This is an entry-level position, and on-the-job training will be provided. The ideal candidate will be open to learning, proficient with Microsoft Office applications, familiar with standard office equipment, possess strong communication skills, and demonstrate exceptional interpersonal and customer service skills. Bilingual skills are also desired.

      Administrative Clerk I: Under close supervision, to perform the daily routine administrative, clerical and basic accounting functions within a county department; and to do related work which pertains to this class specification.

      Administrative Clerk II: Under general supervision, to perform the daily administrative clerical and basic accounting functions of more than average difficulty within a county department and to do related work which pertains to this class specification.

      Administrative Clerk I
      Experience: One (1) year of clerical experience. One (1) year of full time business education beyond the high school level may be substituted for the required experience.

      Typing Speed: Ability to type no less than 35 words per minute.

      Administrative Clerk II
      Experience: Two years of increasingly responsible clerical experience; one (1) year of full time business education beyond the high school level may be substituted for one year of the required experience.

      Typing Speed: Ability to type no less than 35 words per minute.

      License
      Some positions in this classification may require incumbents to possess and maintain a valid California driver's license, Class C or higher, to carry out job related duties.       Incumbents in this class may have access to Federal Tax Information and are subject to confidentiality and safeguarding requirements of Internal Revenue Code 6103(p)(4). As such, an individual selected for this position is subject to a thorough background investigation as stipulated in Section 5.1.1 of Internal Revenue Service Publication 1075, which includes the following:

      • Review of Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) fingerprint results;
      • Check of local law enforcement agencies where the subject has lived, worked and/or attended school within the last five (5) years and, if applicable, of the appropriate agency for any identified arrests; and
      • Verification of an employee's eligibility to work in the United States.
      • Background investigations are conducted upon hire and every ten (10) years of employment thereafter.

      Eligibility Criteria : Online typing certificates are NOT accepted. In order for your typing certificate to be accepted, it must meet the following criteria:
      • The test must be a minimum of three minutes long
      • The test must have been in the past 12 months of application. Typing certificates older than 12 months are not accepted
      • The certificate must include time limit of the test, gross words per minute, number of errors, date of test, and the signature of the person administering the test.
      • The certificate must be on agency letterhead.

      The supplemental questions are designed to elicit specific information regarding a candidate's experience, education, and training. Responses should be consistent with the information on your application and are subject to verification.
