- Performs responsible duties related to the proper operation, coordination, and management of telecommunications, rentals, and rental contracts for Capitol Park Museum. Returns all inquiries in a timely fashion. Serves as Special Events Coordinator. This position is responsible for booking and managing all special events at the museum and all after-hours events.
- Establishes, implements, and revises rental program standards and guidelines for vendors and renters. Serves as the museum’s liaison with rental clients and at rental events. Greets and conducts tours for prospective clients and guests of the Baton Rouge CYB and the Lt. Governor’s Office.
- Manages program information by maintaining databases and programs. Ensures information integrity of generated monthly reports, including fiscal responsibility for budgetary reporting. Turns in bullet points of the requested information to the Division Director.
- Payment management and tracking through the Museum’s Administrative Assistant, Assistant Deputy Secretary, Administrative Coordinator, and Louisiana Museum Foundation.
- Ensures program compliance with State regulations for public access according to Louisiana Administrative Code Title 25 Cultural Resources, Part III.
- Initiates contracts for building use and collects fees and donations related to events for DCRT and OLG as renters, and their vendors, outside groups, and their vendors for receptions, programs, parties, etc., at the direction of the Division Director.
- During after-hours events, as on-site manager/staff supervisor for maintenance, TICs, volunteers, etc. Ensures events are staffed appropriately in conjunction with the Administrative Coordinator 3. Assists event coordinator in New Orleans if necessary.
- Coordinates with the Office of Buildings and Grounds for monthly HVAC scheduling of non-gallery space and monthly lawn maintenance scheduling.
- Manages event setup and planning with staff for lectures, events, receptions, openings, etc., related to museum-sponsored and museum-partnered Education and Community Programming initiatives and activities.
- Remains innovative in creating, planning, and implementing museums events, partnerships, and growing in new markets.
- Complies monthly programming information to send to community calendars and shares them on online community calendars.
- Assists in coordinating communications internally and outside the museum.
- Provides media representatives with information regarding special events. Facilitates media access when appropriate.
- Develops and maintains the Capitol Park Museum’s public relations files, including media exposure and printed materials, and complies with monthly tallies to the Division Director.
- Attends event promotional seminars to promote the Museum as an event venue.
- Joins professional development and networking groups to grow audience and corporation with vendors and colleagues.
- May set up non-collection displays, give informal tours and auto-visual presentations.
- Identify ads to pursue based on inquiry feedback and trends in the industry.
This is a fulltime position located at the Capitol Park Museum in Baton Rouge, LA.

Six years of full-time work experience in any field; OR
A bachelor's degree.
EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION:
Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.Administrative & Event Stewardship – 75%
Media & Public Relations – 20%
Other Duties as assigned – 5%
Position-Specific Details:Appointment Type: Probational. Current classified permanent status employees may be required to take a probational appointment if selected for this position.
Work Schedule: Fulltime; Monday-Friday. May be required to work overtime and travel.
