The Administrative Services position is a support position in the front office of the Montgomery County Coroner's Office and Miami Valley Regional Crime Laboratory.
The duties include, but are not limited to the following:
Receive, distribute, and return evidence to law enforcement agencies and private contractors.
Enter data into LIMS system from evidence submission forms (ESF).
Enter data into the Electronic Death Registration System (EDRS).
Maintain evidence in the laboratory property rooms and designated areas.
Maintain inventory of the laboratory property rooms and designated areas through LIMS.
Distribution of laboratory reports (via email, regular mail, and hand delivery).
Maintain and respond to inquiries for records and reports through the designated email account.
Assist with the teaching of and maintaining supplies for the Evidence Technician Course.
Adhere to MCCO/MVRCL quality procedures.
Transport evidence to and from the State Fire Marshall’s Office as needed.
Prepare supplies for DUI kits to be provided to law enforcement agencies and local hospitals.
Maintain a clean working environment.
Maintain and ensure the security of evidence, including receiving, identifying, and recording.
Maintains chain of custody; inventories and audits evidence held.
May testify in court, depositions, and hearings regarding the chain of custody and identification of evidentiary items.
Maintains constant integrity of evidence and property received.
Answers phones and routes accordingly.
Perform tasks for the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office such as reports, death certificates, and statistics.
Perform any duties as required by the Director or their designee.
Knowledge of report and record maintenance principles and techniques.
Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions.
Skilled in written and oral communication, including the ability to be articulate and professional during court testimony.
Skilled in the use of office equipment, including copy machines and multi-line telephone systems.
Skilled in the use of computers for data entry, word processing and accounting purposes.
Ability to organize and communicate effectively.
Ability to plan, organize and use mature judgment in evaluating situations and making decisions in accordance with established policy.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other agencies, and the public.
Ability to use computer software (Word, Excel, etc.) and enter data accurately from a wide variety of source documents.
Ability to exercise considerable discretion and maintain confidentiality due to the sensitive nature of information processed.
Applicant MUST be masterful in data entry, communication, and multi-tasking and be prepared for a high volume work load with high expectation of low error rate.
