      POSITION: Administrator Mentor (General Posting) (Job # 3146)

      LOCATION: TBD

      POSITION SUMMARY: To assist new/beginning administrators and supervisors as per specific performance responsibilities listed below. Assigned to assist new administrators and supervisors in developing operational and instructional leadership, organizational management, judgment, decision-making, and communication skills.

      REPORTS TO: Chief Operations and/or Academic Officer

      EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE: At the time of application, the candidate must hold:

      1. Administrative and Supervisory Certificate
      2. At least three years of successful completion of administrative and supervisory experience in the role

      KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES AND SKILLS: (These are pre-employment knowledge, abilities, and skills that apply to the Essential Job Functions.) At the time of employment, the candidate must:

      1. Demonstrated ability to support adult learners through coaching and reflective dialogue.
      2. Demonstrated skill in using sound judgement, decision-making, and communication skills.
      3. Demonstrated skill in using a variety of successful organizational management strategies.
      4. Demonstrated success in operational and/or instructional leadership skills and strategies.
      5. Demonstrated ability in written and oral communication.
      6. Deep understanding of school improvement and developing highly effective teams.
      7. Demonstrated ability to relate effectively to students, teachers, staff, central office personnel, parents, and community members.
      8. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Calvert County Public Schools may find appropriate and acceptable.
      9. Demonstrated success in accomplishing tasks akin to those responsibilities listed below.

      ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

      1. Helps to incorporate administrators and supervisors into the culture of the system, school, and community.
      2. Serves as a role model for new and beginning administrators and supervisors.
      3. Shares strategies, skills, and resources with new/beginning administrators and supervisors.
      4. Conducts mentoring sessions with new/beginning administrators and supervisors on a regular basis(s).
      5. Participates in the new administrators' and supervisors’ sessions as required.
      6. Assists administrators and supervisors in developing operational and instructional leadership, organizational management, and judgment, decision-making, and communication skills.
      7. Participates in at least one mentor training each school year.
      8. Meets with administration to determine the best strategies to support building system vision and goals with the new administrators and supervisors.
      9. Completes and submits logs for each mentee in the Professional Learning platform in a timely fashion.

      OTHER DUTIES: Performs related work as required or assigned by the COO/CAO

      PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Position requires significant periods of standing and walking, and is performed in a typical school environment.

      UNUSUAL DEMANDS: May be subject to a flexible work schedule.

      TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT : This is a stipend position available to current Calvert County Public Schools administrators and supervisors. Members hired as mentors for new administrators or supervisors shall be compensated at a rate of $500 per mentee.

      FLSA STATUS : Exempt

      EFFECTIVE DATE OF POSITION: On or after August 1, 2025

      EVALUATION: Performance will be evaluated annually in accordance with the policy on evaluation as established by the Calvert County Public Schools.
