POSITION DUTIES
The incumbent in this position functions as a senior Investigator and Administrator within OEEO. With nearly 9,000 employees, and a budget of close to $1.2 billion, the Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services is one of the largest state agencies in Maryland. The Department’s functions include the operation of 3 correctional divisions that total 27 facilities, and 45 parole and probation supervision offices. The main purpose of this position is to serve as an Investigator with the Office of Fair Practices and Inclusion and to support the Unit Directors. This position will handle high level tasks and responsibilities under the direction and guidance of the Office of Fair Practices Executive Team. The incumbent will be responsible for receiving EEO complaints, both internal and external, and assessing the initial nature of the complaint in order to support the office in a quick response, investigation, discipline where needed, and/or refer to alternative dispute resolution. This includes investigating all claims of discrimination, sexual harassment, bullying, and other unfair practices to ensure discipline is instituted where appropriate. Reviewing requests for reasonable accommodations in accordance with ADA regulations as directed by the EEO ADA Coordinator, assisting with EO training to staff, making recommendations relating to transcribing closure letters based on investigation findings, responding to external complaints with EEOC or MCCR, representing the Department during potential court or administrative proceedings. Collaborating with our ADR Division on recommending cases for potential settlement, coaching, or facilitation. Supporting and collaborating with the Director of Compliance and Education to develop and present on EEO topics and policies. Maintain compliant data and develop annual reports for the Executive Director.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate. Experience: Six years of administrative staff or professional work. Notes: 1. Candidates may substitute 30 college credit hours from an accredited college or university for each year up to four years of the required experience. 2. Candidates may substitute the possession of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and two years of experience in administrative staff or professional work for the required experience. 3. Candidates may substitute the possession of a Master's degree from an accredited college or university for the required experience. 4. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer involving staff work related to the administration of rules, regulations, policy, procedures and processes, or overseeing or coordinating unit operations or functioning as a staff assistant to a higher ranking commissioned officer on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Preference will be given to applicants who possess the following preferred qualification(s). Include clear and specific information on your application regarding your qualifications. 1.Experience inhandling investigations and/or complaints of discrimination and report writing. 2.Experience inauditing in the development of policies and procedures for EEO, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. 3.Experience leading or training and developing others into an EEO Investigator who can process and handle investigations and/or complaints of discrimination that require a thorough analysis based on Federal and State employment policies, laws, and regulations.

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.
