      Position Overview and Environment

      The Office of Undergraduate Admissions at The Ohio State University is a dynamic and exciting workplace. This position offers an opportunity to strategically impact the future of Ohio State through the recruitment, admission, and support of outstanding students as the Outreach and Recruitment team is responsible for recruiting prospective students to The Ohio State University. The admissions counselor reports to an assistant director of Outreach and Recruitment. The individual will be located in the Student Academic Services Building and will work closely and alongside a team of full-time staff members of approximately 30 and a broader Undergraduate Admissions team of 55. Peak seasons are typically August through May given the cyclical nature of the work supported across Undergraduate Admissions. In office or hybrid work hours (3 days in office, 2 days work from home) can range from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday, but will require early morning, evening, and weekend hours at various times during the year given the role's direct work with outreach and recruitment programs occurring in varying international time zones.

      Detailed Position Description

      As a member of the Undergraduate Admissions team the international admissions counselor will manage an international recruitment territory; execute territory specific recruitment activities and events in collaboration with partner offices using data, reports and analysis tools/technology; develop and maintain positive relationships with high schools, travel to high schools and college fairs to represent The Ohio State University with possible/extensive travel up to 10 weeks per year internationally, potentially 3-4 consistent weeks in a given semester; make recruitment outreach to prospective students in collaboration with partner offices; host virtual presentations and counseling sessions for international students; host international school counselors in information sessions on-campus and in international locations; monitor a territory specific budget; analyze prospective student data; learn and use the Empowering Market Analysis (EMA) system, CRM system, Student Information System, and other technologies to perform timely and accurate entries into databases regarding student application information, call/email activity and other processes, performing data validation; and manage electronic workflows.

      Additional responsibilities the admissions counselor will be responsible for include but are not limited to: counseling and corresponding with students, families, university departments, or other stakeholders regarding The Ohio State University undergraduate admissions policies, procedures, and general information over the phone, via email, and in person; conducting large and small-group presentations; learning and maintaining knowledge of the areas within the office and university to best direct questions from staff and guests; researching and resolving problems; assisting with on and off campus recruitment events and projects; coordinating recruitment for special programs, as assigned, which may include transfer, veterans, and College Credit Plus; providing support to access, diversity, and inclusion on/off campus programs and initiatives; reviewing applications (domestic, international, transfer, special populations) through our holistic application review process and making admissions recommendations (actual time commitment will fluctuate through the year); participating as an active member of the Undergraduate Admissions team through membership on committees; and completing special assignments and other duties as assigned.

      This position is a non-exempt position and falls within the guidelines of FLSA.

      Early morning, evening, and weekend hours required.

      MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED

      Bachelor's Level Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.

      REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

      Conflict resolution skills demonstrated ability to collaborate, program planning and implementation, excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills, demonstrated strength in relationship building.

      DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

      Desired experience: 1-2 years of related experience. Work experience at a college/university, admissions preferred, Knowledge of data interpretation, Knowledge of CRM and other recruitment technology platforms.

      Salary range for this position: Minimum $15.29/hour – Mid - $20.43/hour. The offer for this position will fall within this range based on internal equity, units' available budget, and the candidates' qualifications.
