Job Description

- Adjudicate applicant files for admissibility with standardized curricula from domestic and international students for undergraduate and teacher education programs;
- Assist in evaluating academic qualifications to determine authenticity;
- Adjudicate and assign basic transfer credit where applicable and assign continuation of study;
- Convey admission decisions to applicants and respond to their questions with compassion, tact and diplomacy;
- Evaluate and process a high volume of admission applications quickly and accurately;
- Evaluate applicants in consideration of their educational and career goals & objectives to provide appropriate recommendations;
- Advise current and prospective students with respect to admission requirements and other related issues;
- Adjudicate, present and prepare special cases to the Admissions Committee for review;
- Apply knowledge and understanding of Admissions policy to influence and maintain fair and equitable practices;
- Support strategies and action plans to meet program enrollment targets and ensure alignment with University initiatives;
- Participate in recruitment events as required (i.e., Ontario Universities’ Fair, on-campus open houses and fair-style high school events); and
- All other related duties as required and/or assigned by the Reporting to the Manager, Admissions and Assessment or designate.
- Undergraduate university degree;
- One to two years’ related work experience in a University or College Admissions or Recruitment office or equivalent;
- Knowledge of Canadian and general international educational systems;
- Knowledge of the educational process and courses & programs offered at Brock;
- Experience in making effective decisions and dealing well with ambiguity;
- Solid computer competency including word processing, spreadsheet, database, web applications and web maintenance, social media and internet search engines;
- Excellent interpersonal, customer service, relation-building, problem-solving, and communication skills with professional public speaking ability;
- Strong administrative, organizational and time management skills
- Ability to be innovative, adaptable, and demonstrate initiative; and
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as a member of a team.

A Day in the Life…
Reporting to the Manager of Admissions & Assessment, the Admissions Officer will work to ensure the enrolment management goals of the Office of the Registrar and the university at large are met. You will accurately assess and adjudicate standardized curriculum for Undergraduate and Teacher Education programs. You will provide exceptional service for these groups to gather the information needed to make key decisions and ensure this information is promptly provided with an engaging personal touch.
