      The First Nations Coordinator is part of a team critical to the reconciliation work within the Archaeology Branch (Branch) to develop and maintain positive relationships with Indigenous Peoples, support Government to Government negotiations and agreement implementation, and ensure the administration of the Heritage Conservation Act (HCA) is consistent with legal consultation requirements. The position works directly with Indigenous Governments and senior Branch staff on those initiatives which advance true and lasting reconciliation and shares information regarding the consultation process with provincial staff, Indigenous Governments, and other interested parties.


      Job Requirements:

      • Diploma related to First Nations consultation, public administration or a related field and one (1) year of related experience; OR
      • Certificate or coursework in First Nations consultation, public administration or a related field and two (2) years’ related experience; OR
      • Secondary School graduation (Dogwood, GED) and three (3) years’ related experience; OR
      • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

      Related experience includes the following:

      • Experience working with First Nations communities
      • Experience in consultation and/or negotiation processes.

      Preference may be given to candidates:

      • With more than two (2) years’ experience working with First Nations communities or experience working with multiple Indigenous communities.
      • With experience working with provincial government, or HCA permitting.
      • Who self-identify as First Nations, Métis or Inuit with the required combination of education and experience.

      About this Position:
      This is a temporary opportunity until March 31, 2025. A permanent appointment may result from this temporary appointment.
      An eligibility list may be established to fill future temporary and permanent vacancies.
      Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work from home a few days a week subject to an approved telework agreement.
      This position can be based out of any of the locations listed above.
