Job Description
- Req#: 1084673
- Post secondary Degree, Diploma, Certificate, or an equivalent combination of experience, education, and training in conducting criminal investigations.
- Minimum 2 years' experience and training in criminal law and investigational techniques.
- Must be able to attain and maintain the Special Provincial Constable designation.
- Experience in completing complex court briefs, search warrants and / or production orders in criminal investigations.
- Experience conducting criminal investigation in a financial crime setting.
- Experience conducting criminal investigations relating to fraud.
- Experience conducting criminal investigation relating to financial support programs.
- Experience conducting criminal investigations in a serious crime's unit.
- Must be willing to travel frequently.
- Position requires a valid B.C. driver’s license.
- May be required to travel alone, in remote areas throughout the province, under a variety of road/weather conditions, often without cellular contact. Overnight absences and the use of own vehicle may be required, where a government vehicle is not available, to conduct investigations and/or gather evidence.
- May be required to operate a variety of equipment.

Ministry Investigators act as Special Provincial Constable conducting investigations and special reviews of clients and former clients that are suspected of having committed criminal offences under the statutes administered by the Ministry of Social Development and Poverty Reduction and related offences under the Criminal Code of Canada.

Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work from home a few days a week as per the Telework Agreement.
