- Degree in Information Management, Business Administration, Public Administration or a related field and 3 years’ *related experience OR:
- Diploma in Information Management, Business Administration, Public Administration or a related field and 4 years' *related experience.
- Experience interpreting and administering FOIPPA legislation and providing advice on policy, procedures, and guidelines.
- Experience implementing or developing policy, regulation, or legislation.
- Experience in leading, planning and coordinating complex projects/assignments that have multiple delivery components while managing daily work responsibilities.
- Experience in resolving complex client issues relating to privacy, FOIPPA, and records management.
- Experience in concisely and persuasively writing a range of documents/content, including communicating sensitive information to clients.
- Experience in delivering subject matter training
- Experience in government records management practices using ARCS/ORCS.
- Experience providing verbal briefings to senior management and executive and making presentations.
- Project Management experience.
- More years of recent and *related experience.
- Completion of the British Columbia Information Privacy Certificate Program (BCIP).

The Independent Investigations Office (IIO) is an independent civilian-led agency with jurisdiction to investigate police-related incidents of death or serious harm to determine whether or not an officer may have committed an offence. The Police Act creates the IIO and defines its powers. The IIO reports to the Attorney General; however, investigations and decisions are operationally independent of the government. The IIO has jurisdiction over all provincial policing agencies, including municipal police agencies, the RCMP, the South Coast BC Transportation Authority Police Service, and the Stl’atl’imx Tribal Police Service. The IIO’s jurisdiction also extends to officers appointed as special provincial constables, municipal constables, and includes on- and off-duty officers.
Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer (COO) and independent from the Information Access Operations (IAO) unit, the Privacy and Records Management Specialist plans, organizes, and manages the IIO’s response to Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FOIPPA) access requests, including providing advice, leadership and throughout the process. Functions as the organization’s subject matter expert on privacy, FOIPPA, and records management.
