Provide your expertise to help the recovery process for victims of crime
The Adjudicator acts in a quasi-judicial role and applies administrative law and natural justice principles to assess claims and render decisions on eligibility and appropriate benefit levels or financial assistance for claimants under the Crime Victim Assistance Act. Through the analysis and assessment of information from various sources and through the application of the Crime Victim Assistance Act and Regulations, the adjudicator exercises unfettered discretion in determining eligibility, appropriate benefit types, as well as the level and duration of benefits to be awarded.
Job Requirements:
• University degree/college diploma in a related field (Law, Criminology, Psychology, Social Sciences, or equivalent.); OR
• Diploma/certificate in a related field plus 3 years experience in a related field or 2 years direct experience with victims of crime; OR
• High school diploma or post-secondary training plus 5 years experience in a related field or 3 years direct experience with victims of crime; AND
• A minimum of one year experience working on issues related to victims or vulnerable groups (such as children and youth, women who experience violence, Aboriginal people, people with disabilities, ethnic minorities or others).
• Experience making decisions in the areas of adjudication and/or administrative law, appeals, reconsideration or tribunals.

About this Position:
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to #4 days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
This is a temporary opportunity until 3/31/2024.
A permanent appointment may result from this temporary appointment.
This position can be based out of Vancouver or Victoria.
An eligibility list may be established to fill future temporary and permanent vacancies.
