      The Policing and Security Branch, within the Ministry of Public Safety and Solicitor General, provides central oversight of policing, law enforcement and the security industry in B.C., and develops and administers public safety initiatives dedicated to the protection of British Columbians. The Branch is responsible for ensuring adequate and effective levels of policing, and superintending law enforcement.

      The Research and Policy Analyst supports policy research and analysis and assists with development and implementation of strategic policies and legislation for Serious and Organized Crime priority files including but not limited to, the Organized Crime Agency of BC. This may include collating and analyzing information, developing reports and tools for internal and external partner engagement, leading or supporting consultation and engagement processes, and providing advice and recommendations to leadership.

      Job Requirements:

      • Bachelor’s degree in, criminology, social sciences or related discipline and minimum 2 years of related experience, or the equivalent combination of education and recent related experience may be considered.
      • A minimum of one (1) year’s experience assisting with the development of policy or program initiatives: either through the development of legislation, regulations and/or policies or programs.
      • A minimum of six (6) months experience providing recommendations and developing written materials for senior staff and/or executive.
      • Experience establishing and maintaining relationships with internal or external stakeholders and/or Indigenous partners.

      Preference may be given to candidates with the following:

      • Experience with project management.
      • Experience working with stakeholders, partner agencies, and senior management.
      • Experience utilizing research methodologies related to the justice system.
      • Experience working in a regulatory or law enforcement environment.
