      Job summary

      An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Adult Audiology team at Whipps Cross Hospital. This is a 12 month secondment opportunity to cover maternity leave.

      Barts Health Audiology Service at Waltham Forest and Redbridge audiology service to adults at Whipps Cross Hospital. The post is full time and the post holder will be the lead Audiologist in Adult Audiology with advanced specialist knowledge in the field of adult audiology. The purpose of this role is to provide professional leadership and strategic management for the Adult Audiology service in Walthamstow & Redbridge, including the development of strategic frameworks which are robust, auditable and concur with acceptable best practice.

      The post holder will be responsible for ensuring, through their own work and managing others, that the departments plans, systems, structures and processes for managing clinical quality, risk, controls assurance and local patient and public involvement initiatives are in place, and that these are carried out and managed efficiently.

      Main duties of the job

      The post holder will be responsible for the management of the adult audiology site in Redbridge and Waltham Forest (Whipps Cross Hospital)

      • The post holder will be responsible for managing the demand and capacity of the Adult Audiology service ensuring that 6 week and 18 week targets are adhered to in line with Trust Policy.
      • The post holder will make key decisions on prioritising referrals to ensure diagnostics and 18 week targets are met. Where problems are identified, the post-holder will take corrective team action and manage the prevention of potential breeches.
      • Accountable for the delivery of clinical and non-clinical performance, governance, quality, financial accountability, budgetary responsibility and human and physical resources.
      • To support the delivery of service targets including quality, workforce, finance and activity; he/she will implement corrective action as required to prevent targets not being met.
      • To initiate and participate in audit and service development

      • Qualified practitioner with significant NHS clinical experience as a band 7 Audiologist
      • Experience in a lead/deputy managerial role within Audiology service
      • Responsibility for area(s) of specialty within Audiology and/or general administration
      • Experience of coordinating and running own clinic
      • Demonstrable operational managerial responsibility
      • Significant experience of working at a senior level demonstrating clinical competency within relevant clinical area
      • Experience in managing staff using performance management and appraisal disciplinary and sickness absence apolicies/procedures
      • Evidence and experience of leading change, demonstrating sustained improvements
      • Experience of staff management, service development and change management
