      Advanced Electrical Engineering Co-op

      IMPACT and OPPORTUNITY

      Gentherm recently launched WellSense; a software-defined consumer experience portfolio that promotes health and well-being in the vehicle using our thermal and pneumatic-massage products. We are looking for a Co-Op to join a cross-functional engineering team to support the electrical engineering activities of our WellSense product development.

      As a Co-Op (intern), you will have an opportunity to learn from talented engineers on the process of bringing innovative ideas into a prototype environment to product launch. This is a highly hands-on role and attention to detail is required.

      ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

      • Support the electrical engineering activities for prototype and demo properties to be used by engineers for research and product development iterations.
      • Support the development and implementation of new prototyping techniques and tools
      • Maintain correct engineering and technical disciplines
      • Design and update PCB boards using Altium
      • Coordinates tasks with cross-functional teams involving electrical / functional system behavior
      • Support system definitions, component operating requirements, and control schemes.
      • Prepare technical specifications for the electrical/electronic components and system.
      • Write reports as needed for communication.
      • Carry out circuit simulations and/or calculations to prove out concepts and designs.
      • Design electrical schematics and PCB layout optimized for automotive EMC performance.
      • Test and troubleshoot prototypes, and troubleshoot EMC issues.
      • Create BOM, gerbers, ICT specification, EOL test specification and other fabrication documents.
      • Ensure functional and safe prototypes.
      • Generate required engineering work products to drive deliverables to meet project timing and internal process requirements.
      • Work in close collaboration with stakeholders including our Thermophysiology, System, and Software teams to develop best/standard practices.
      • Identify unachievable project timelines from the design phase through production and service.
      • Attend, support and participate in engineering development meetings with the customer and team.a

      QUALIFICATIONS

      MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

      • Studying for a Bachelor’s degree in electrical, computer, electronics engineering or equivalent
      • Strong communication skills and an aptitude for working within a team
      • Eagerness to learn in a fast-paced environment
      • Familiarity with Altium
      • Experience with soldering PCBs with thru-hole and SMT components

      PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

      • Experience with mechanical assembly methods and wiring
      • Experience designing with analog, digital, semiconductors, microprocessors, power supplies, electronics hardware design, and communication circuits is required
      • Experience in CAD, Test Data Analysis
      • Familiarity with Automotive Communication Protocols (LIN/CAN)
