      Job Description:

Techtronic Industries (TTI) is seeking an Advanced Engineering Technician to drive innovation and product performance through precision testing, data collection, and analysis. This role involves hands-on sound and vibration testing, material characterization, mechanical testing, metrology, and other lab measurements to support product development and advanced engineering initiatives. TTI is a leader in consumer products, specializing in power tools, outdoor power equipment, and cleaning products. This is an interdisciplinary position and requires a high degree of self-motivation. The ideal candidate has a strong technical background, experience with laboratory instrumentation, and a passion for problem-solving in a fast-paced R&D environment.

      PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

      Sound & Vibration Testing:

      • Perform acoustic and vibration analysis, including modal analysis, NVH studies, and frequency response testing to support product refinement and noise reduction efforts
      • Setup and operate accelerometers, microphones, and data acquisition systems
      • Analyze test data using FFT analysis, waterfall plots, and other diagnostic tools

      Mechanical Characterization of Materials:

      • Conduct tensile, compression, shear, creep, and fatigue testing using load frames, impact testers, fatigue machines, and other custom equipment to assess material performance and durability
      • Analyze stress-strain behavior to support material selection, failure analysis, and design validation

      Metrology & Precision Measurement:

      • Perform high-precision measurements using coordinate measuring machines (CMMs), profilometers, micrometers, calipers, and surface roughness testers
      • Execute GD&T inspections to validate dimensional accuracy and manufacturing tolerances
      • Develop and refine custom measurement setups to improve efficiency and accuracy

      REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

      • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Mechatronics, or related technical field
      • 3+ years of experience in an engineering lab or testing environment, preferably in product development
      • Proficiency in a least one of the following disciplines: sound/vibration testing equipment, material characterization, and mechanical testing
      • Hands-on experience with metrology tools such as CMMs and profilometers
      • Experience with data acquisition and analysis software (e.g. LabView, MATLAB, Python, BK Connect, etc.)
      • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, apply GD&T principles, and analyze technical specifications
      • Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently or as part of a team

      PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

      • Experience with modal analysis and NVH testing
      • Knowledge of finite element analysis (FEA) and correlation with experimental test data
      • Familiarity with high-speed cameras and advanced measurement techniques such as Digital Image Correlation (DIC)
      • Background in automated testing and scripting for data processing
