- Responsible for Controls and PLC programming in maintenance on 3rd shift with guidance from nightshift and dayshift controls positions.
- Responsible for quickly assessing controls issues when equipment is down and making the decisions and corrections to return the equipment to working state.
- Responsible to complete Controls and PLC programming projects as assigned.
- Responsible to assist maintenance team on Controls and PLC issues daily, and to perform routine maintenance tasks when plant is running in steady state.
- Responsible to lead, mentor and teach maintenance technicians on 3rd shift in trouble shooting and repairing controls and PLC issues.
- Installs, alters, electrical conduit, wiring, switching devices, controls, outlets, fixtures, motors, transformers, and other such equipment.
- Test, maintains and evaluates equipment performance using instruments such as voltmeters, ohmmeters, pyrometers, and pressure gauges. Troubleshoot PLCs with computer terminal.
- Perform trouble shooting of faulty equipment and perform minor repairs as required and see to general maintenance of system.
- Performs skilled maintenance activities including construction, welding, brazing, soldering, and plumbing.
- Checks and repairs pumps, fans, valves, and motors.
- Adjusts repairs and replaces electrical and electronic pneumatic relays.
- Prepares accurate records for preventive maintenance.
- Performs related work as required
- Must be willing to abide by the company hand book in regard to following safety rules and job rotations.
- Must be willing to report unsafe conditions, reporting unsafe acts, participating in safety/ergo committees, participating in safety Kaizen events, participating in blue sky initiatives, participating in safety audits, and participating in safety observation feedback events.
- Assist the plant in achieving safety goals and achieving and maintaining AMS objectives.
- Participate in communications events such as plant wide meetings, line meetings, department meetings, and training exercises.
- Will follow and promote environmental management system compliance and commitment to resource conservation.
- High school diploma or GED required; degree not required but vocational training in industrial maintenance or related trades preferred.
- Industrial Maintenance Certification required (or willingness to obtain).
- Minimum 10 years of hands-on industrial maintenance experience, with a strong focus on troubleshooting PLCs, robotics, conveyor systems, pneumatics, and motor drives.
- Advanced knowledge and proven experience in PLC programming and troubleshooting, especially with Allen-Bradley systems (RSLogix 5000, Studio 5000, SLC 500)
- Certification in Allen-Bradley PLC programming is a plus.
- Proficient in programming using ladder logic and HMI interfaces (primarily Allen-Bradley).
- Self-starter with the ability to work independently and lead troubleshooting efforts with minimal supervision.
- Solid understanding of methods, tools, and practices used in at least two trades (mechanical, electrical, or building maintenance).
- Strong knowledge of occupational hazards and required safety precautions in industrial environments.
- Prior experience in an automotive manufacturing environment is a plus.
- Ability to work on 3rd Shift (Mon - Fri, start time between 8:00-10:00 pm until 6:15 am).

Summary
We’re seeking an experienced Advanced Maintenance Technician to join our 3rd shift team, with a strong focus on controls and PLC programming. This journeyman-level role requires advanced skills in automation and controls, along with proficiency in multiple trades related to machinery, equipment, and facility maintenance.
As the lead technician for controls and PLC programming during 3rd shift, they'll support and complement the efforts of our primary Controls Engineers on 1st shift. This Advanced Maintenance Technician role demands a high level of technical independence, including the ability to interpret diagrams, troubleshoot systems, and determine appropriate repair methods. Assignments may vary, and work will be reviewed through inspections and discussions with technical or administrative supervisors.
