Job Description
- Req#: 144411
- Designs, configures, installs and commissions APC systems hosted by the Metso APC software
- Designs, configures and commissions vision systems, sound analysis systems and other intelligent sensors at customers ‘sites
- Monitors and supports APC or advanced sensing systems in the dedicated market area from the office, via remote computer access to the client’s sites
- Runs training courses for customers as necessary
- Works closely with the Market area manager of the dedicated market area
- Coordinates work with other APC engineers from the global APC team on the projects
- Is responsible for project management duties (forecast, organization, planning, communication, reporting, invoicing)
- Is responsible for communication with customers on the projects
- Writes reports, project documentation and participates in writing product documentation
- Bachelors or Master’s Degree or PhD in Metallurgy, Mineral processing, Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering/process control, or related field
- Technical experience in mineral processing and process control
- Very good knowledge of computer configuration and use
- Fluency in English communications
- Knowledge and use of Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook
- Must be self-motivated
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Must be willing to travel both domestically and internationally up to an average of 40% of the time
- Strong analytical/problem solving skills. Demonstrate creativity and innovation in day-to-day work
- Ability to take direction and work as a team to solve problems and complete work for clients
- Experience as APC engineer or equivalent
- Knowledge of his/her dedicated area mining industry
- Relevant industry experience required (mineral processing, possibly cement industry or other process industry)
- Management or supervisory ability
- Knowledge of Metso Outotec APC software or competitor’s software
- Plant optimization experience using expert systems (rule-based control), model predictive control (MPC) and online dynamic mathematical models
- Knowledge of OPC, DCOM, Modbus and other communication protocols

Currently seeking an Advanced Process Control Engineer to specialise in Metso APC technology. The main activity is the implementation of APC systems and advanced sensor systems in the dedicated geographical area (Asia Pacific). The APC Engineer is part of the global team of Process Optimization.
The job requires a very good understanding of both the clients’ process and of advanced process control and vision technology. It is primarily a technical position, that requires travelling, both domestic and internationally. It also includes management responsibilities. The APC engineer spends a significant part of their time with customers during the implementation of the contracts and must be able to establish good communication and collaborative relationships with customers.
