- Three to four (3-4) years of related work experience, preferably in a public education environment
- Meet and assist persons coming into and calling the Career Center.
- Order and maintain supplies and equipment for the Career Center.
- Assist students with scholarship information, college applications, financial aid, NCAA information, Early College enrollment, and other career-related information.
- Help students to complete online college, FAFSA, and scholarship applications.
- Conduct an online career inventory for every eighth grade student and all interested high school students on a yearly basis.
- Inform students, staff, and parents about the career center resources through print, e-mail, and the district website.
- Assist with the annual BISD Career Fair and schedule college visitations.
- Assist in locating college and career resources.
- Order and maintain current career and college information in the Career Center.
- Attend career interest meetings with ACC and other Austin organizations.
- Prepare materials and schedule outside speakers for advisory clusters.
- Maintain all pertinent records for the career center.
- Work flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends, so that the Career Center is open and available for students and parents.
- Ensure confidentiality at all times.
- Keep informed of and comply with all state and district policies and regulations
- concerning primary job functions.
- Articulate the district’s mission to the community and solicit its support in realizing the mission.
- Project a positive image to the school and the community.
- Tools/Equipment Used: Personal computer and peripherals; standard instructional equipment; [P.E. teachers: automated external defibrillator (AED)]
- Posture: Prolonged standing; frequent kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting
- Motion: Frequent walking
- Lifting: Regular light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds); may lift and move textbooks and classroom equipment up to 50 pounds
