09/06/2024 Collaborates with the Niles North and Niles West AFFINITY Family Liaisons to develop a schedule of meetings for the academic year and maintain attendance records for events.
Recruits parents and student volunteers throughout the school year in order to keep an active program.
Promotes and publicizes meetings and events by utilizing school messenger, fliers, and correspondence.
Engages students in community service by having them volunteer at meetings and events.
Maintains positive relationships with parents and supports our population in a respectful manner, underscoring their vital role in their child’s education.
Obtains feedback from parents on relevant topics for meetings.
Plans meetings and schedules speakers to meet the needs and interests of the parents involved.
Collaborates with the Chief Equity Officer to maintain the vision of the program.
Uses appropriate channels to resolve concerns and problems.
Adheres to D219 Board of Education policies and procedures and other professional agency policies.
Connect and support each other as parents of students in District 219 high schools and feeder schools
Gain familiarity and confidence supporting their child’s education by checking grades, communicating with teachers, utilizing the support of family liaisons, and utilizing school resources
Learn ways to support their child’s academic, extracurricular and social/emotional success
Become aware of District sponsored programs for parents

AFFINITY Sponsor Job Description
Position Title: AFFINITY Sponsor
Reports To: Chief Equity Officer
Position Statement: The sponsor of AFFINITY will provide a place where parents of students of African descent can learn about school/community resources and gain confidence in supporting their child’s academic success.
Essential Functions:
? Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient
functioning of the program.
Goals of AFFINITY: The goal of AFFINITY is to meet monthly and provide an inviting forum for parents to
Calendar: September through May
Monthly meetings (Day is TBD) 6:00 to 7:30 pm
Hours Per Week: 2 hours per event plus additional planning time.
Building: Niles West and Niles North
Performance Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the District evaluation procedures.
