- Analyst support RQ, AFRL, SDPE and AF Futures and assist in data driven strategic planning for the Air Force. The need for Research Ops Analysts with appropriate skills is rapidly growing and RQS is looking to add additional analyst positions to the existing team.
- RQ is a system integration directorate that explores new concepts and capabilities built on advances in engines, power, control systems, autonomy, aerodynamics, airframes, and rockets. RQ also partners with other AFRL directorates to incorporate additional technologies under development to engender AF capabilities.
- RQSAA Research Analysts create new analytic tools, processes and methodologies and work with stakeholders to develop comprehensive modeling, simulation, and analysis (MS&A) plans utilizing several possible types of MS&A activities (constructive, virtual, wargames, etc) and potentially involving analysis focused across a broad spectrum of the MS&A pyramid (engineering, engagement, mission, campaign level analysis).
- RQSAA Analysts are required to design, develop, and use modeling, simulation, and analysis tools/techniques to support the development and evaluation of advanced aerospace vehicle concepts and technologies that span RQ and AFRL.
- A Bachelor’s degree in computer science, electrical/computer engineering, mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, physics, mathematics or a related technical discipline
- Work with warfighters and technologists to develop models, scenarios, and analyses, including defining requirements, schedules & budgets
- Work closely with the Intelligence Community to discuss and assess all source intelligence in matters related to current and future foreign capabilities
- Conceive and conduct original studies, beginning with pre-simulation analysis and the evaluation of desired end products
- Develop and optimize analysis test plans
- Conduct simulation and analysis events
- Collect/analyze data, extracts results, and generate/present analysis reports
- Advise RQ leadership and other organizations, on research and analysis matters
- Lead team of government and contractor personnel in the accomplishment of analysis reports.

- Must be able to obtain/maintain a TS/SCI - Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI).
- Position is subject to random drug testing
- Requires Non-critical APDP certification Level 3 in STM(I) or Practitioner Level/02
- Males must be registered for Selective Service see www.sss.gov
- A Master’s degree in computer science, software engineering, systems engineering, operations research or a related technical discipline highly desired.
- At least four years of professional (i.e., through full-time employment, internship, freelance contract, or master’s level practicum) experience with systems analysis, modeling, simulation and analysis, and/or wargaming
- Strong analytical, problem solving, and planning skills with practical experience on projects utilizing modeling, simulation or analysis techniques or tools to evaluate subsystem technologies or capability concepts.
- Insight into how current AF systems are used to conduct warfighting missions
- Experience working with Intel organizations, and military services
- Experience with Defense Acquisition and contract management
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with experience presenting complex technical information in a clear and concise manner to a variety of audiences
- Knowledge of analytical methods & techniques such as Design of Experiments (DoE)
- Knowledge of model-based/model-driven engineering methods, tools, and techniques
- Experience developing/using physics-based or statistically-derived models and simulations
- Practical experience or exposure to mission or campaign level analysis software products such as AFSIM, Thunder or STORM
