      The AFRL Munitions Directorate seeks to fill a senior-level DR-0801-03, Senior General Engineers or DR-1550-03, Senior Computer Scientist in the Advanced Concepts Office (RWC), Munitions Branch (RWCD) at Eglin AFB in Valparaiso, Florida. The ideal candidate will have experience in Modeling Simulation and Analysis (MS&A) required to effectively conduct research, development, and demonstration of advanced technologies for air delivered weapon systems and subsystems.

      Position duties include, but are not limited to:

      • Serves as a senior Modeling Simulation and Analysis (MS&A) subject matter expert in the Advanced Concepts Division

      • Designs and executes conceptual weapon research and development that defines concepts, estimates performance, reduces programmatic risk, and guides technology investment decisions.

      • Plans and executes science and technology MS&A projects to meet cost, schedule, and performance objectives within prescribed fiscal and time constraints.

      • Independently applies computer science and engineering principles to day-to-day activities and provides informed recommendations for major decisions.

      • Maintains cognizance of related efforts and stays abreast of the state-of-the-art in new computational science technologies and their application to the development of advanced weapon systems.

      • Proactively engages with government stakeholders and industry partners as necessary to guide MS&A specific objectives for a variety of projects and ensure consistency across the DoD MS&A community.

      • Identifies MS&A requirements, develops associated plans, coordinates resources, oversees analysis, and analyzes results.

      • Ensures project financial management, contracting, security, and information assurance requirements are met.

      • Advises and recommends MS&A solutions and provides technical expertise to portfolio managers, branch, and division leadership.

      Required Qualifications

      • US Citizenship
      • Must poses a professional science or engineering (S&E) degree from an accredited academic institution
      • Must have at least one year of specialized experience at the DR-02 or equivalent grade level
      • Must be able to obtain and maintain a top-secret security clearance
      • This position is an Acquisition Professional Development Program (APDP) position requiring Level/Tier 2 (Practitioner) Non-Critical certification in Engineering & Technical Management (N). Applicants for this position must list any acquisition certifications.

      Desired Qualifications

      • At least three years of experience with primary duties in MS&A related to advanced aircraft or weapon systems.

      • Experience with computational, engagement, mission, and/or campaign MS&A tools & advanced frameworks

      • Familiarity with Digital Material Modeling and its application to weapons development and collaborative environments
      • Ability to assess and understand the proper use of various aircraft or weapon modeling and simulation tools, frameworks, and model fidelity

      • Ability to recognize and communicate model limitations and the impact of assumptions on technology investment decisions

      • Experience effectively interfacing/collaborating with or within the Department of Defense research/acquisition community

      • Ability to create MS&A roadmaps and project plans to prioritize and address identified gaps

      • Ability to lead and/or provide guidance to small technical teams to achieve significant milestones and collaborate with transition partners

      • Experience working with classified research and development and/or acquisition programs

      • Ability to cultivate a professional, respectful environment of cooperation, cohesion, and teamwork

      • Ability to address complex technical/programmatic challenges with creativity and a sense of urgency

      • Experience preparing and briefing technical concepts to senior leadership and peers in dynamic technical forums
