- This position is open to candidates currently at the DR-03 (or equivalent grade) level eligible for promotion and/or current DR-04 (or equivalent grade) level candidates for reassignment.
- Serves as the Supervisory Division Chief responsible for leading professional engineering and management teams in support of projects/programs pertaining to the Multispectral Sensing and Detection Division (RYM).
- Second level supervisor over a division of ~135 government employees, military, plus on-site contractors.
- Ensures infrastructure and manpower needs are met to accomplish division objectives, including execution of ~$ 5M/yr in research support funding.
- Leads state-of-the-art sensor system research and development, utilizing the entire electromagnetic spectrum to deliver next-generation sensing capabilities focusing on all-domain electro-optical (EO) and radio frequency (RF) sensing on timelines from strategic to tactical in environments, from permissive to highly contested for the Department of Air Force.
- Directs advanced multidisciplinary professional engineering work involved in the application of advanced theories, concepts, principles, and processes for Multispectral Sensing and Detection, across multiple domains including both air and space.
- Acts as a national level authority on performing research and development, test and evaluation and demonstration of related systems.
- Serves as a consultant to other government agencies, international governments (under sanctioned agreements), and works with Joint / Air Force combatant commands to identify relevant emerging technologies for transition.
Manages the Multispectral Sensing and Detection Division’s manpower needs to meet staffing requirements of the directorate’s project portfolio.
Conducts gap analyzes relative to division technical portfolio needs.
- Recruits engineering talent to strengthen technical projects/programs.
- Monitors division's contracted developmental work (~$200M/year) to ensure satisfactory progress in accordance with cost, schedule, technical, fiscal resource, and requirements metrics/constraints.
- Works directly with TALs, and provides for overall internal integration and technical coordination of division programs within AFRL, with other Air Force organizations, and with other DoD partners as required to control the scope, depth, quality, and timeliness of basic, applied, and advanced technology development programs.

- Applicants must have least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade DR-03, or equivalent in other pay systems. This includes experience in technology development programs and managing highly technical contracted projects and project teams in sensing, sense making, spectrum warfare, or other relevant technologies.
- Position will be filled using occupational series within the SCIENTIST AND ENGINEERING career field.

- This position is an Acquisition Professional Development Program(APDP) position requiring Level/Tier 2 (Practitioner) Non-Critical certification in Engineering and Technical Management (N); experience is 4 years; and the selectee will have 60-months to meet APDP requirements or a waiver must be obtained.

Employee must live within the commuting area of Wright-Patterson AFB.
- Experience in coordination of classified projects and facilities.
- Technical expertise in sensors and/or spectrum warfare technologies.
- Significant experience in managing highly technical contracted projects.
- Excellent verbal, oral, and written communication skills for technical and senior leader audiences.
- Ability to perform TDY travel approximately 25% time.
- PCS expenses, if authorized, will be paid IAW the JTR and Air Force regulations. Centrally managed PCS costs paid by the Career Field Team. No DNRP authorized.
- Experience with Top Secret/SCI and Special Access Programs (SAP).
- Experience as a first level supervisor for a minimum of one year.
- Significant experience in developing technology development programs and transitioning them to a user community.
- Significant experience in managing highly technical contracted projects.
- Technical expertise in Multispectral Sensing and Detection technologies.
- Experience at a relevant transition organization for sensing or spectrum warfare technology, such as AFLCMC, NASIC, or MAJCOM.
- Experience developing partnerships with external sponsors of advanced technology development such as DARPA.
- Knowledge of Department of Air Force technology transition stakeholders including Air Force Research Laboratory, Headquarters organizations, and Major Commands.
