      Position Summary:

      Florida Atlantic University is seeking After School Counselors - Boca Raton, FL.

      Counselors lead and work with a group of up to 20-25 students in grades K-9. Counselors ensure the safety and delivery, support, and supervision of academic, athletic, and creative activities with children enrolled in aftercare.

      Summary of Responsibilities:

      • Serves the needs of all children in an inclusive setting.

      • Develops and implements daily program activities.

      • Provides support and assistance to students during homework time.

      • Plans and leads various students’ indoor/outdoor program curriculums, games, activities, celebrations, clubs, meetings, arts, and crafts, etc.

      • Assists with planning and implementation of the monthly activity calendar.

      • Models and implements age-appropriate behavioral techniques and appropriate consequences.

      • Maintains accurate daily attendance records.

      • Identifies student misconduct; completes discipline forms, accident /injuries reports, and review allergy lists in a timely manner.

      • Ensures safety, administers basic first aid and medication, as needed.

      • Implements emergency codes and evacuation procedures.

      • Attends and participates in monthly staff meetings, recommended trainings, or classes.

      • Assists in keeping the program office, cafeteria, classrooms, computer lab, playground, and other areas neat and clean.

      • Follows adopted program policies and procedures.

      • Maintains confidentiality and professionalism.

      • Establish and maintain an effective working relationship with coworkers.

      • Performs other duties as assigned.

      Minimum Qualifications:

      FAU degree-seeking undergraduate student with a minimum of six credit hours (or twelve if international) and a 2.0 GPA required.


      Preferred Qualifications/Skills:

      Experience working with school-age students.

      CPR/First Aid training and school-age professional certificate.

      Strong verbal skills.

      Salary:

      $14.00 per hour.
