      Schedule: Monday–Friday, 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM
      Location: Fully onsite in the Lower East Side
      Pay: $50,000–$60,000 annually (Salary)
      Exemption Status: Non-Exempt

      Program Overview

      The Education and Employment Division, with an $8.2M budget, serves over 8,000 people annually. We offer services from Early Childhood Education to Adult Workforce programs, including Early Learn, six after-school programs, four day camps, youth recreation, high school and college success programs, and community-based workforce training.

      Job Summary

      The Program Coordinator oversees the daily operations of the after-school and summer camp programs at P.S. 184. Reporting to the Assistant Director of Afterschool and Camp Services, this role includes managing program staff, ensuring high-quality service delivery, and handling compliance and reporting. The role includes coverage of 13 holiday camp days from 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM and serves as the primary contact for the program.

      Qualifications

      • Demonstrates integrity, credibility, and a strong commitment to our mission
      • Bachelor’s degree in education or a related field (master’s preferred)
      • At least five years of supervisory experience in after-school or camp program
      • Strong understanding of age-appropriate development for K–8 youth
      • Experience working with diverse student populations
      • Proven ability to create and evaluate youth programming
      • Familiarity with DYCD Connect
      • Experience leading program staff to deliver engaging youth activities
      • Skilled in hiring, training, managing, and developing team members
      • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
      • Strong experience engaging families to support youth success
      • Able to support youth at varied academic levels
      • Highly organized and dependable
      • Self-motivated with a collaborative and flexible attitude
      • Available to work on select school holidays

      Responsibilities

      Leadership

      • Build and maintain strong relationships with partners
      • Develop strategies to connect all program components
      • Guide staff in creating engaging and meaningful activities

      Team Management and Development

      • Assess staff skills and professional development needs
      • Provide training and coaching to support staff growth
      • Promote accountability and high performance
      • Hire, train, and support new team members

      Program Operations

      • Gather and use feedback from staff, families, and school partners
      • Ensure compliance with SACC and other regulations
      • Oversee after-school programming for K–8 students
      • Collaborate with DOE staff for program alignment
      • Manage materials, equipment, and supply purchases
      • Keep accurate records of attendance and program activities

      Physical Requirements

      • Able to lift up to 10 lbs.
      • Able to sit, stand, bend, or move for extended periods
