      The Hartford is seeking an Agency Compensation Consultant to support all The Hartford’s business units. The Agency Compensation team provides the vision, discipline, and expertise to manage The Hartford’s more than $1.8 billion producer compensation portfolio. We execute on the compensation expectations and strategies for each business while addressing the compliance, legal and financial expectations of the Property & Casualty organization.

      The candidate will partner with Business Leaders, IT Leaders, Project Managers, and Finance to define and support the Agency Compensation spend for our P&C markets. A vital lever in our distribution interactions, compensation plans are constantly assessed for alignment to market environments, and segment strategies. This role will manage that process throughout the year to support our business partners, and ensure we are maximizing our spend, and providing accurate and timely products, through dynamic thought and data driven analysis and recommendations.

      Responsibilities:

      • Accountable/owner to business partner commission strategies, from design to budgeting, to implementation and payment

      • Provide leadership, oversight, analytic support, and subject matter expertise in the development of compensation strategies for the field sales organization working closely with the P&C business segments

      • Independently identifies and resolves complex agency compensation issues of all types, through analytics and application of critical reasoning, to make data-driven recommendations

      • Interaction with home office CFO’s, home office Sales leadership, and field sales leadership to obtain proper information and understanding of the commission investments and utilization

      • Drives the completion of accurate commission payment processes, with applicable variance explanations to senior leaders and segment controllers

      • Responsibilities also include maintaining and supporting proper workflows, enhancing tools & models, identifying, and pursuing data deficiencies, support the compensation program requirements, explaining the rationale of deficiencies, and participate in the larger cross functional team initiatives to improve the areas efficiency and accuracy

      Technical/Functional Skills/Qualifications:

      • 5+ Years of the insurance industry experience preferred

      • Mastery of Microsoft Products such as Excel & Access is required; Competency with Tableau, Tableau Prep, and data modeling skills a plus

      • Financial background is preferred

      • Excellent communication skills - both oral and written, formal and informal; effective at communicating complex analysis concisely

      • Ability to work within a high pressure, multi-task environment due to the volume of work and compensation cycle

      • Proactive individual, who challenges existing processes, can influence others and drive a process to a conclusion while meeting critical deadlines

      • Strong project management and agile knowledge, specifically within a matrixed organization

      • Intellectual curiosity and strong critical thinking essential

      • Bachelor’s degree is preferred

      This role can have a Hybrid or Remote work arrangement. Candidates who live near one of our office locations will have the expectation of working in an office three days a week (Tuesday through Thursday). Candidates who do not live near an office will have a remote work arrangement, with the expectation of coming into an office as business needs arise.

      Compensation

      The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:

      $93,920 - $140,880
