      About Bayview Research

      The research team at Bayview works with businesses across the firm, including portfolio managers, traders and Lakeview, the mortgage servicing/origination business.

      We own the data analysis process from start to finish:

      • Data engineering: fetch, explore, and clean the data
      • Modeling: validate existing features, perform feature engineering, and identify the best statistical methods to apply to a given problem
      • Development: Code up the implementation with consideration for efficient run-time execution.

      Lakeview is the top servicer of agency MSRs in the United States and actively sources new MSRs across its origination platform and bulk and co-issue MSR businesses. We directly support Lakeview's marketing efforts; identify opportunities for new marketing campaigns, analyze customer behavior and integrate a growing list of proprietary datasets into our analysis.

      POSITION SUMMARY:

      We’re looking to hire a Data Engineer for the Research team at Bayview Asset Management. Our team develops and implements statistical models for various teams across the firm. Your primary duties will be to develop, maintain, and enhance the various proprietary consumer behavior datasets that flow into our quantitative marketing projects. Main goals are to improve the data pipelines for efficient uploading and downloading of data, to clean the data for use by the research and trading teams, and to help automate reporting and data visualization.

      ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

      • Improve/maintain/create various ETL/data cleaning pipelines and packages to ensure data integrity and efficient processing
      • Integrate data from multiple sources to meet business requirements
      • Develop reporting and data visualization suites
      • Ad hoc data analysis/data query projects
      • Collaborate with Modelers and Business Units to achieve project goals, translate business needs to technical requirements.
      • Identify areas of improvements in existing processes – including setting up new infrastructure and tooling for legacy frameworks
      • Keep up to date with recent advancements in tech, assess what’s new in the industry and propose new tech adoption in existing processes

      SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES:

      We’d love to hear from you if you have:

      • A passion for working with data
      • Demonstrated Expertise with Relational Database Structures and Excellent SQL skills
      • Advanced Python skills, ability to write clear, well-documented code ready for distribution
      • Knowledge of OOP concepts and Python testing frameworks
      • Ability to work in a collaborative environment using VCS like Git
      • Ability to communicate ideas in both technical and user-friendly language
      • Strong quantitative skills and a high aptitude for problem solving

      You’d impress us further if you also bring:

      • A basic understanding of concepts in statistical/predictive modeling
      • Basic knowledge of economics or finance

      EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:

      • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a Hard Science (advanced degree a plus)
      • 1-3 Years in a Similar Position

      LOCATION: This is an onsite role based in Bayview's Coral Gables, FL office. We have existing team members based in this location.
