Join us as we reinvent work, so people everywhere can do their best work.

      About The Role

As an AI Engineer on the Agentic Orchestration team, you’ll help build the foundations of CosmOS—HP’s intelligent operating system for personal computing. You’ll contribute to the orchestration layer that empowers LLM-based agents to reason, plan, and act on behalf of users. Your work will involve integrating LLMs into real-world systems, prototyping multi-agent behavior, and building memory and toolchain infrastructure for adaptive experiences.

This is a unique opportunity for someone early in their career who wants to operate at the intersection of AI research and system design. You’ll work closely with senior engineers, learn fast, and make meaningful contributions to HP’s next-generation AI platform.

      What You Might Do

      • Build components for agent orchestration pipelines, including task routing, memory graphs, and action planning
      • Integrate external LLM APIs (e.g., OpenAI, Claude, Gemini) with backend systems
      • Develop prompt strategies and planning routines that improve agent reliability and user experience
      • Contribute to prototypes using modern agentic frameworks (LangChain, ReAct, AutoGPT)
      • Collaborate cross-functionally with product, modeling, and UX teams to ship intelligent features to HP’s devices
      • Design and run experiments to fine-tune and evaluate LLM-based agents on real-world tasks, iterating to improve performance and reliability
      • Contribute to model curation, including dataset generation, labeling strategies, and quality checks that support personalized and contextual agent behavior
      • Apply model optimization techniques such as pruning and quantization to improve on-device performance and reduce latency

      Essential Qualifications

      • 3+ years of experience in software engineering or AI-related development
      • Proficiency in Python, with exposure to backend system development
      • BS or MS in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, or a related field
      • Understanding of prompt engineering, LLM APIs, or agentic architectures
      • Curiosity and adaptability to experiment with new tools and frameworks in an evolving field
      • Experience in model development workflows—including data curation, fine-tuning, evaluation, and iteration to improve model quality. Ability to independently run experiments to optimize models for performance and utility.

      Preferred Skills

      • Familiarity with LangChain, OpenAI function calling, or similar frameworks
      • Exposure to planning systems, vector databases, or graph-based memory structures
      • Experience deploying models or AI applications in production
      • Interest in building systems that personalize and persist user context across sessions and devices
      • Contributions to open-source LLM or orchestration projects
      • Hands-on knowledge of model compression and efficiency techniques, including model pruning and quantization

The pay range for this role is $104,800 to $158,250 USD annually with additional opportunities for pay in the form of bonus and/or equity (applies to United States of America candidates only). Pay varies by work location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
